ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect allegedly driving a stolen vehicle tried to flee from police earlier this week but ended up crashing into a truck and being arrested. On August 29th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, who were tracking a vehicle reported stolen out of Lexington that had entered Randolph County. Randolph County deputies located the vehicle in the area of Meadowbrook Rd. and Kennedy Farm Rd. and attempted to pull over the driver. TRINITY N.C. - A man who fired a gun at a residence after an argument and then lead police on a high-speed pursuit was arrested over the weekend according to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office. On July 23, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Thayer Rd., Trinity, in reference to an armed person who had fired a gun at a residence following an altercation. While deputies were responding, the caller told 9-1-1 the suspect had left and returned. When the deputies arrived, they say they were able to hear voices on the front porch of the residence and as they approached, they heard a passenger car drive off at a high rate of speed south on Thayer Rd. ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect is in the Randolph County Jail today awaiting court on several warrants, drug, and traffic charges related to a vehicle pursuit last week. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on May 11th, 2023, deputies attempted to pull over a vehicle on Pisgah Covered Bridge Rd., in Asheboro. The driver refused to stop and instead accelerated away, beginning a vehicle pursuit with police. During that pursuit, a deputy was successful in getting the vehicle to stop using a "forced vehicle maneuver" designed to break the vehicle's traction, on their second attempt. ASHEBORO N.C. - Asheboro Police Officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit after trying to pull over a suspect they believe was connected to several vehicle break-ins at a local apartment complex last week. According to information from the Asheboro Police Department, officers were notified of several 911 calls reporting at least five vehicles broken into at Summers Run Apartments. Police say they were able to determine the suspect's vehicle. That vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Greensboro, was spotted and sped away when officers attempted to pull it over on a traffic stop. ASHEBORO N.C. - Earlier this week officers with the Asheboro Police Department responding to a call about an armed person ended up chasing a juvenile who was reported missing who was carrying a gun. On July 24th 2022, officer were dispatched to Martin Luther King Jr Dr in Asheboro after 911 received a call about an armed juvenile suspect in the area. ASHEBORO N.C. — Following a call about a burglary in progress police managed to arrest one suspect, are still looking for a second, and recovered almost a pound and a half of marijuana, leading to a puzzling question. According to the Asheboro Police Department on Dec 7th 2021, Officer Auman was dispatched to the Park Place II Apartments on South Church Street in reference to a burglary in progress. ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) - A suspect trying to flee from police was involved in a fiery head on crash that shut down the westbound lanes of the 64 Bypass this afternoon. In an email the Randolph County Sheriff's Office says that the Criminal Apprehension Team was conducting surveillance on a wanted subject and attempted to pull them over on the Hwy 64 Bypass in Asheboro. That's when police say the suspect refused to stop and a chase ensued. In the area of the ramp for the Zoo Connector, police say the suspect left the roadway and made a U-turn and began driving the wrong direction in the west bound lane.
