Photo released by the Asheboro Police Department ASHEBORO N.C. – The Asheboro Police Department is asking for help from the public in identifying who suspects who they say used a traffic vest to steal two TVs from Wal-Mart. According to a report from the department on the afternoon of December 24th, 2023, an officer was called to the Asheboro Wal-Mart. A loss prevention officer told the officers that the day prior two unidentified black males had come into the store and taken two televisions without paying. In photos released on Facebook one of the suspects can be seen in a traffic vest pushing TVs in a car through the store. According to police reports on Oct 6th, 2023, at around 7 p.m., an officer responded to the Randolph Mall for a report of a fraud. An employee at a business inside the mall told officers that a male had come into the business and paid with a counterfeit $100 dollar bill. While at the mall, the officer was notified by security that another business in the mall was reporting receiving a counterfeit bill from a male. In recent police reports we know that between November 17th and 18th Asheboro Police responded to a fight-in-progress and a student in possession of marijuana at Asheboro High School, and a fight at North Asheboro Middle School. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man is in jail under a one million dollar bond after police say he stabbed a victim multiple times on Sunday. Officers with Asheboro Police Department responded to Pelican Snowballs on Sunday May 8th 2022, after a child ran into the business reporting their mother had been stabbed. Officers responded to the business as well as a residence on Washington Ave. There they located they victim, identified as Renalta Smith, who had been stabbed multiple times. Smith was transported by EMS to a local medical facility. Police say after receiving a tip they were able to located the suspect identified as Kelly Lashaun Wiley, at the Dollar General on Zoo Parkway. On March 1st 2022, just before midnight an officer with the Asheboro Police Department responded to the Madison Heights apartments on N Fayetteville Street after getting a call about a burglary in progress. According to a police report the arriving officer spoke with a resident at the apartments who had heard multiple car alarms going off and saw an unidentified male inside of his vehicle. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Sheriff’s Office announced they made an arrest of an individual accused of stealing a truck with several guns inside last month. On January 10, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 7000 block of NC HWY 49 South in Denton for a report of a vehicle theft. The victim told police that a truck containing several firearms had been stolen from the business. The Asheboro Police Department located the stolen truck on January 20, 2022. Motel 6 in Asheboro (Randolph News Now) ASHEBORO NC - Hopes were high in 2019 when the property at 827 Albemarle Rd in Asheboro was purchased by Asheboro Hospitality 6 LLC for $2.3 million and renovations began to turn the location into a new Motel 6 chain. “We were excited when the property was rehabbed after so many years of sitting empty,” said Asheboro Mayor David Smith. Several years later the Motel 6 location has become a physical embodiment of the drug and crime problem that has plagued Randolph County.  Our investigation began on Friday, August 25th, 2021, when just after 11 AM, police, fire, and EMS crews were called to the motel for a report of a cardiac arrest. 11 Goats Found Shot Dead Near Ramseur

RAMSEUR NC - Eleven goats were found shot on Parks Crossroads Church Rd. in the Ramseur area last Saturday. According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, On January 2, 2021, deputies responded to a call on Parks Crossroads Church Rd. in the Ramseur area. The owner of the property had found numerous goats including five baby goats and six adult goats, had been shot and killed. It is believed that the livestock was killed between the hours of 12:30PM and 5:30PM on 1/2/2021.
