Police Chase Sunday Ends in Driver Crashing / Under Arrest

ASHEBORO N.C. - The driver of a motorcycle who tried to flee from police Sunday was arrested after crashing his motorcycle. On April 9th, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to pull over a motorcycle near US Hwy 220 S. According to a press release, the driver fled onto Old State Highway starting a vehicle pursuit and onto US HWY 220 S. from Virgil Hill Road where he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. Police say the driver, who was identified as Richard Anthony Vestal, Jr fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. ASHEBORO N.C. - Earlier today we reported on data from the Sheriff's Office showing in March of this year the agency investigated eight vehicle thefts, making up almost half of the reported vehicle thefts so far this year. As a follow up to that article (which you can read here), we are detailing just a few of the cases we are aware of from March. In early February detectives with the Criminal Interdiction Team were investigating two reports of stolen vehicles on Oakland Ave, in Asheboro. ASHEBORO N.C. - A search warrant at a home in Seagrove last month located drugs, cash and two guns and led to the arrest of one person who is now facing felony trafficking charges. On March 29, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Division concluded an investigation related to the distribution of narcotics in Randolph County. Detectives, along with the Criminal Interdiction Team and the Seagrove Police Department, executed a search warrant at a residence located on Auman St. in Seagrove, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office. ASHEBORO NC - A local man with several warrants for breaking and entering and larceny was located and arrested by police last weekend. On March 25th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Russell Walker Ave, in Randleman, after hearing a wanted suspect they were attempting to locate was in the area. When deputies arrived, they say they observed Ethan Wayne Stanley fleeing on foot. He was located hiding under an outbuilding and arrested. According to the Sheriff's Office, during a search following the arrest, marijuana and paraphernalia were in his possession. ASHEBORO N.C. - An officer with the Asheboro Police Department who was called to check on two people slumped over in a car at a McDonald's walked up to an oblivious driver to catch her red handed preparing to use drugs. On February 22nd, 2023, just before 6:30 pm, an officer with the Asheboro Police Department was called to the McDonald's at 1436 N Fayetteville St for a report of a male and female slumped over in a vehicle in the parking lot. ASHEBORO N.C. - A search warrant executed last month by the Randolph County Sheriff's Office found drugs and led to the arrest of one person. According to a press release, on January 20th, 2023, the Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Division searched a residence at 935 Teresa Way in Asheboro. During the search, detectives located and seized Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, Suboxone and items of drug paraphernalia. ASHEBORO N.C. - One man was arrested after leading police on a short chase just after midnight on Monday in Asheboro. According to a police report from the Asheboro Police Department just after midnight on November 28th, 2022, an officer attempted to pull over a on a silver passenger vehicle due to the odor of marijuana near Dublin Rd and NC Hwy 42.
