At around 6 p.m. on Aug 23rd, 2023, emergency crews were called to 23 S Fayetteville St, in Asheboro for a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle. Crews arrived to find a pedestrian lying in the crosswalk near the Magnolia 23 restaurant with witnesses in the roadway trying to assist him. [Scott Pelkey | North State Journal] ASHEBORO N.C. - An unknown situation is causing delays on I-73/74 near Asheboro as police investigate. At around 5:40 p.m. on July 22nd, 2023, emergency crews responded to I-73/74 Southbound, near the Pineview exit, for an injured person in the roadway. One person was transported from the scene with critical injuries to a local trauma center. Investigators are on the scene now and traffic delays are expected in the area. This is a developing story. On April 25th, 2023, at around 6pm, Asheboro Fire/Rescue, Ash-Rand Rescue, and Randolph County EMS were called to ¡UNA MAS! Modern Taqueria-Margaritas at 1337 E Dixie Dr in Asheboro for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into the restaurant. [Scott Pelkey | North State Journal] ASHEBORO N.C. - The driver of a grey SUV was taken to the hospital this evening after crashing into the side of the Verizon store in Asheboro. Just before 7pm on April 10th, 2023, Randolph County 911 dispatched emergency crews to 1304 E Dixie Dr, in Asheboro, for a report of a vehicle crash. Callers reported a vehicle had gone down an embankment and crashed into the side of the Verizon store on E Dixie Dr. Asheboro Fire and Police, Westside Fire, Eastside Fire, Franklinville Fire, Ash-Rand Rescue, and Randolph County EMS all responded to the scene. At 9:11 a.m. on Friday, February 10th, 2023, emergency crews from East Side Fire Dept, Franklinville Fire Dept, Ash-Rand Rescue, Randolph County EMS, and Sheriff's Office along with Troppers from the NC Highway Patrol responded to the report of a crash that occurred on NC 42 near Hayfield Drive. After getting a house fire under control, firefighters work to put out hot spots and overhaul the scene on Friday Jan 13th, 2023. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) ASHEBORO N.C. - No one was injured after a home on Ashbrook View Ln in Asheboro caught fire early Friday afternoon. At 1:25 PM on Friday January 13th, 2023, firefighters from Ulah, Westside, and East Side Fire Departments, along with Randolph County EMS were dispatched to a home on Ashbrook View Ln in Asheboro. The first unit arrived on scene at 1:30pm and reported a working fire near the rear of the structure. ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) - A suspect trying to flee from police was involved in a fiery head on crash that shut down the westbound lanes of the 64 Bypass this afternoon. In an email the Randolph County Sheriff's Office says that the Criminal Apprehension Team was conducting surveillance on a wanted subject and attempted to pull them over on the Hwy 64 Bypass in Asheboro. That's when police say the suspect refused to stop and a chase ensued. In the area of the ramp for the Zoo Connector, police say the suspect left the roadway and made a U-turn and began driving the wrong direction in the west bound lane.
