ASHEBORO N.C. — A local teenager was airlifted following a crash yesterday evening that shutdown US-64, according to the Highway Patrol. Just after 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 28th, 2024, the State Highway Patrol was called to respond to a vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 64 near Loflin Pond Road.  According to a press release from the Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old driver in a 2011 Honda SUV attempted to turn left onto U.S. Highway 64 from the Dollar General PVA and collided with a 2020 Toyota Pickup. The teen driver was severely injured and was airlifted to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. The driver of the 2020 Toyota Pickup, along with an adult passenger, were transported to Randolph Health for non-life-threatening injuries. The N.C. Dept of Transportation closed both directions ...

ASHEBORO N.C. – Authorities are searching for a suspect vehicle that fled the scene after being involved in a collision on US 64 in Randolph County Wednesday evening, leaving another driver seriously injured. According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, troopers responded to the report of a crash that occurred on US 64 near Westbury Drive in Randolph County. Investigators say that a black 2017 Lexus RX 350 SUV traveling east, unlawfully passed a 2016 Toyota passenger car in a turning lane, resulting in a collision that sent the Toyota off the roadway to the right, striking an embankment, and a tree. FRANKLINVILLE N.C. - A local woman died from injuries sustained in a single vehicle accident in Franklinville last week. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, at 7:48 p.m. on Friday, May 12th, 2023, Troopers responded to the report of a crash that occurred on Clark Avenue near Allred Street in Randolph County. Kaslyn Marie Switzer, of Asheboro, N.C., was traveling east on Clark Avenue operating a 2014 Toyota. Troopers who investigated the scene reported that Switzer traveled off the roadway to the right and struck a tree. Switzer suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to Moses H. According to information released by the State Highway Patrol, on Tuesday, March 21 st , 2023, at 8:17 pm Troopers responded to the report of a crash that occurred on Mt. Gilead Church Road near Hoover Hill Road in Randolph County. Justin Gray Hall, aged thirty-six, from Sandy Ridge, N.C., was traveling west on Mt. At 11:20 a.m. on Monday, March 6th, 2023, the State Highway Patrol responded to the report of a crash that occurred on NC 134 at Center Cross Church Road. Troopers say 58-year-old Balvantbh Thakorbhai Patel, of McLeansville, N.C., was traveling west on Center Cross Church Road in a 2021 Toyota Highlander. Patel failed to stop at the intersection at NC134 and was struck by a truck-tractor, pulling a semi-trailer. Patel died on-scene. ASHEBORO N.C. (NC SHP) – Two cars stopped after a minor crash on I-73/74 this morning were struck by a third vehicle bringing the early morning commute on the interstate to a crawl. According to a press release from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NC SHP), at 7:26 am on Friday, May 6th 2022, troopers responded to the report of a crash that occurred on I-73 (southbound) near Presnell Street in Randolph County.
