ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS)- Repair crews are working to clear downed lines and poles at the intersection of Dixon St and Uwharrie St in Asheboro, after an accident involving a truck. Around 11am the Asheboro Fire Department was dispatched to a reported hit and run at Dixon St and Uwharrie St. Police on scene requested the fire department to respond to assist with traffic control and downed power lines. We are still waiting to hear back from the Asheboro Police Department about what exactly led to the accident. In the aftermath left behind 4-6 power poles were down along with power and cable lines across the roadway and in several peoples yards on Dixon St, Uwharrie St, and Cherry St. At this time power crews say that power has been restored to all but one customer near the scene...

Seven Injured In Head On Crash – Police Looking For Driver Who Fled

ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) – A head on collision sent several people to the hospital and now police are looking for a the driver of one of the vehicles who fled the scene on foot. At 5:39 PM on Friday October 15th 2021, Randolph County 9-1-1 received more than half a dozen calls about a vehicle crash between two vehicles on Old Liberty Rd near Central Falls Rd. Asheboro Police and Fire departments along with Randolph County EMS and later Ash-Rand EMS were dispatched. In total 4 Ambulances (3 from Randolph County EMS and 1 from Ash-Rand) responded to the accident. Baptist Air Care was notified and took off heading to Randolph Hospital to pick up one of the patients but after that patient regained consciousness they were diverted to another accident in Climax where a driver struck a pedestri...

ASHEBORO NC – A local man is facing felony charges after crashing a car into his ex's car several times and fleeing the scene.The Randolph County Sheriff's Office says on July 11th, 2021, they were asked by Troopers with the North Carolina Highway Patrol to respond to the area of Old Farmer Road and Oakgrove Road, in Asheboro. Troopers were on the scene of an accident/hit-and-run that had occurred earlier during a domestic confrontation. Police say they discovered that the victim’s vehicle had been intentionally struck by a former romantic partner which caused the victim to crash. The suspect had fled the scene but was identified as Tiron Dyson McDonald according to reports.
