RANDLEMAN N.C. - A man who was arrested on an outstanding warrant received an additional larceny charge after deputies say he stole a pair of cuffs from the patrol car he was being held in. On October 20th, 2023, a deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to Camellia Ln., in Randleman, for a report of an assault. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, the responding deputy met with the caller, Jeffrey Corum, and discovered he had an outstanding warrant for felony charges. Corum was escorted to the location of the assault in the patrol vehicle and asked to stay in the car while the deputy spoke to the parties involved. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two adult suspects who allegedly stole from a local convince store and later conducted a drive by shooting in front of two police officers, were arrested last week according to police reports. On Tuesday July 18th, 2023, at around 9:30 pm, police were notified of a larceny at the Quik Chek store on Sunset Ave in Asheboro. Before the police could respond, two officers working an off-duty detail at Coleridge Apartments called in shots fired after witnessing an individual hanging out of the window firing a pistol towards Kemp Blvd, according to a police report. ASHEBORO N.C. - Last month the Randolph County Sheriff's Office investigated eight vehicle thefts, which makes up almost half of the vehicle thefts reported in 2023 and data is already showing a spike in theft related calls this month. The crime dashboard maintained on the Sheriff's Office website shows that so far this year 18 motor vehicle thefts have been or are being investigated, eight of those occurred in March. To avoid being the victim of a vehicle theft the Sheriff's Office recommends the following advice: Lock your doors every time you leave your vehicle and take your keys. ASHEBORO NC - A local man with several warrants for breaking and entering and larceny was located and arrested by police last weekend. On March 25th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Russell Walker Ave, in Randleman, after hearing a wanted suspect they were attempting to locate was in the area. When deputies arrived, they say they observed Ethan Wayne Stanley fleeing on foot. He was located hiding under an outbuilding and arrested. According to the Sheriff's Office, during a search following the arrest, marijuana and paraphernalia were in his possession. Of those thousands of calls, the most recorded call type at 11% (14,089) were 9-1-1 hang-up, misdials, or open lines (aka butt-dials), followed by 11,186 calls (8.7%) which were marked as duplicate calls where several people called in to report the same incident. Theft was responsible for the largest number of 9-1-1 calls reporting crime in 2022 (when larceny and burglaries are combined) with a total of 4,145 or 3.2% of all calls. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two people were arrested last week near the Randolph County Agricultual Site for allegedly stealing telephone wire in the area. Last week, on December 8th, 2022, deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office were patrolling on US Hwy 64 E, just outside the Asheboro city limits when they observed a vehicle pulling out from a trail that leads to the future site of the Randolph County Agricultural Center. According to the Sheriff's Office deputies were aware that there had been several larcenies reported in the area in recent months, including recent theft of telephone wire. ASHEBORO N.C. - A man from Bunnlevel is facing multiple felony charges after being charged with stealing 1,000 gallons of gasoline from a local gas station. On July 9, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Handy Hugo gas station on Hwy 64 East in Asheboro in reference to a possible larceny/theft of fuel in progress. ASHEBORO N.C. - Police say they arrested two people who are now facing felony charges after their attempt to flee from a failed larceny was thwarted when their stolen vehicle got stuck in the mud. On February 18, 2022,The Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to a larceny at a business on Hwy 64 E. According to the press release from Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, police were informed that two people were attempting to steal from a business but were stopped and then proceeded to flee from the scene.
