At around 1pm DOT crews were working to clear snow from the 73./74 interchange at Sunset Ave, but DOT is still reporting all interstates, highways, and roads in Randolph as "Covered With Snow/Ice". (ACME NEWS)- Toyota will be bringing 1,750 jobs to the area after announcing today that they will be building a battery manufacturing plant at the Greensboro-Randolph Megasite in Randolph County. The car manufacture said today they will invest 1.29 billion dollars in building the facility which once constructed will begin producing batteries for Toyota’s hybrid electric vehicles starting as soon as 2025. "Toyota could have chosen anywhere in the United States for this first battery plant and they chose us," said Gov Cooper (D-N.C.). Liberty Police Facebook Page Gets ‘Depublished’ Without Warning

The Town of Liberty announced the news on their Facebook page on Wednesday October 13th 2021. The post said that Facebook removed the page for “violation of community standards” and that Facebook has “refused to tell the Police Department exactly why the page had been depublished”. Steven Tyler Tuttle, White/Male, 5’08” tall / 190 lbs, 32 years of age, Blue eyes, Brown short hair He was last seen on Monday, May 31, 2021, in the area of Hinshaw Country Rd. in Liberty, NC. Randolph County 911 says on July 20th, 2021 at 10:23 PM they received the first call about the incident on US Hwy 421 at Exit NC 49 and dispatched fire and EMS units to the scene The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was also dispatched, and NC State Highway Patrol (NCSHP)was notified. Liberty Man Arrested On Trafficking Charges

ASHEBORO NC - A Liberty man was arrested in a parking lot in Staley on drug trafficking charges. That's according to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. They say on March 10th, 2021, the departments Vice and Narcotics Division concluded an investigation related to the distribution of Cocaine in the Liberty / Staley area. Detectives executed a search warrant at an address in Liberty. A search warrant was also executed on a vehicle that was parked at a business in Staley. During the search, detectives say they located and seized a trafficking amount of Cocaine, items of drug paraphernalia, and US Currency. Detour Upcoming for NC 49 in Randolph County

LIBERTY NC.(NC DOT PRESS RELEASE)- State transportation maintenance crews need to close a section of N.C. 49 in Liberty for about two weeks to conduct an emergency replacement of a storm drain. The drain failed where it passes under the highway near South Valley Street on the eastern side of the town. Starting Monday, traffic will be detoured to follow East Dameron Avenue/Silk Hope Liberty Road, Hinshaw Shop Road and Staley Store Road/Town Country Road to access points on either side of the closure.
