Acme News Archive ASHEBORO N.C. - Ramseur Elementary School was briefly placed on a modified lockdown Tuesday after an irate parent triggered a police response. On January 10th, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office SRO responded after staff at Ramseur Elementary School reported an irate parent at the school. While the SRO was responding, Randolph County 911 received a call where the caller claimed that someone had fired a weapon into the school. According to the Sheriff's Office, the SRO arrived and parked in front of the door and was met by the irate parent, who they identified as Brittany Desha Andrews. ASHEBORO - An altercation on Albemarle Road involving a gun triggered a lock down at two Asheboro schools. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at approximately 2:25 PM, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to the 500 block of Albemarle Road after receiving a call about an armed person. The callers reported an altercation between multiple people, with at least one who was armed with a handgun. Asheboro High School, South Asheboro Middle School were placed on lockdown and an officer was posted at the nearby child care facility. Officers have located and detained individuals they believe to be involved in the original incident and the lockdown has been lifted. The investigation on scene is on-going. ...

ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - Randolph Hospital's Emergency Room was briefly placed on lockdown Sunday night after a large crowd gathered at the entrance where a victim was being treated following a shooting. According to police radio traffic, officers with the Asheboro Police Department at the Emergency Room requested backup to help with controlling a crowd of between 50-100 people growing angry and confrontational. Officers with the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, Randleman Police Department, and State Highway Patrol responded  emergency traffic. The Randolph County Sherriff's Office ERT (SWAT) team was alerted with some members also responded to the hospital.
