According to a press release on September 12th, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Davis Country Rd., after getting a call that a suspect was actively stealing a forklift. ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office announced they made arrest in two cases involving sex crimes against children earlier this month. According to a press release by the Sheriff's Office, the Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received information that an individual by the name of Aaron Lee Barrett was possessing/distributing numerous child pornography files. Detectives initiated an investigation and on September 2, 2021, Mr. Barrett was taken into custody. Barrett was charged with ten counts of Felony Second Degree Exploitation of a Minor. On May 22nd, 2021 we reported that the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) had confirmed they had opened an investigation into allegations of misconduct made against Sheriff Seabolt. The investigation was requested on May 5th by Randolph County District Attorney Andy Gregson. Gregson said he received complaints that Sherriff Seabolt was using a county-issued vehicle to haul campaign signs. ASHEBORO NC - Two men have been arrested for possessing and distributing child pornography following an investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.  In a press release the Sheriff’s Office says their Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received information that an individual by the name of James Ben Card was possessing/distributing child pornography on social media. Detectives began investigating and were able to obtain a search warrant which they executed on August 19, 2021, at the residence. ASHEBORO NC – A Grand Jury has indicted an Asheboro man in the 2019 overdose death of Amber Cox and her unborn child. Back on April 7th 2019 the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to an overdose at 1123 Ingram Dr. Asheboro NC. When they arrived they found Amber Leigh Cox unresponsive in what they said appeared to be a suspected heroin overdose. Police say the located evidence of recent drug use at the scene. Randolph County EMS arrived and attempted lifesaving procedures before pronouncing Cox and her unborn child deceased on the scene. Amber Cox was nine months pregnant at the time of her death. ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sheriff's office announced they have made two arrests in cases involving sex crimes against children. On May 19, 2021, deputies received a report of a rape. Investigators assigned to the case were able to find enough evidence for the magistrate to find probable cause for charges against Michael Ray Roberts for two counts of Felony Indecent Liberties with a Child. Roberts was arrested at his residence in Davidson County by the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office and was turned over to Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Detectives at the county line where he was transported the Randolph County jail on July 9, 2021. ASHEBORO NC - A mother and son are in jail today after police say a confrontation over stolen items led to a shooting in Thomasville. According to the Randolph County Sherriff's Office on June 26th, 2021, at around 10:40 pm, deputies responded to a report of an assault on Stonehenge Road in Thomasville. When they arrived they found a gunshot victim lying in the road on Fuller Mill Road. That victim, who has not been identified, was airlifted from the scene in critical condition.
