Five Squatters Arrested in Trinity Facing Multiple Charges

On January 21st. 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Millers Mill Rd., Trinty, in for a report of trespassing. When deputies arrived, the caller told them that several individuals were living inside the vacant residence without authorization and wished them to be removed. According to a press release, after several announcements requesting occupants to exit, the property owner provided the key for entry. Man Arrested on Child Exploitation Charges in Liberty

LIBERTY N.C. - Several law enforcement agencies as part of the Invictus Project Task Force arrested a Greensboro man who allegedly traveled to Liberty to meet a child. On January 12th, 2024, the Liberty Police Department along with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office SERT and investigations units, members of The Invictus Project Task Force, NC SBI, Davie County Sheriff's Office, Roxboro Police Department, and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, assisted Gaston County Police Department in the conclusion of a multi-agency investigation by arresting an individual by the name of William Russell Gaffney, 62 years old, of Greensboro, NC, according to a press release. Two Charged in Assault on First Responders, Highlights Dangers

ASHEBORO N.C. – Two men are facing charges for assaulting first responders earlier this week and the dangerous incident highlights the hazards first responders can face. On January 7th, 2024, at around 6 a.m. Randolph County 911 received a 911 hang-up with yelling in the background. Operators were attempting to call the number back, when around three-minutes later, another 911 call came in from a neighbor stating that a male subject had come running into their residence covered in blood saying he had been assaulted by someone he lived with. Man Arrested for using Police Lights to try and Pull Over Driver

ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man was arrested earlier this week after the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says he attempted to use flashing red and blue lights to pull over a vehicle in Asheboro. On December 20th, 2023, deputies responded to Meadowbrook Rd. in Asheboro. A caller reported that they had been followed by a vehicle flashing blue and red lights that they did not believe was a law enforcement vehicle. Wanted Suspect Extradited from Kansas back to Randolph County

ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect wanted by the Sheriff’s Office in connection with a vehicle theft earlier this year has been extradited from Kansas back to Randolph County to face several charges. On July 23rd, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Old Cedar Falls Rd, in Randleman, for a reported vehicle theft. An investigation led to charges being sought against Braxton Lee Trogon for felony larceny of a motor vehicle, felony possession of stolen goods/property, and felony extortion. Driver Crashes into Patrol Vehicle with Shotgun Strapped to Motorcycle, Arrested

ASHEBORO N.C. - A convicted felon with a shotgun strapped to his motorcycle was arrested after crashing into a patrol vehicle earlier this week, according to police. On December 5th, 2023, a deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was on a call on Clifton Dr. in Archdale. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, a motorcycle traveling south on Clifton Drive with no headlights struck the deputies patrol vehicle in the rear. The operator, identified by the Sheriff’s Office as Thurman Earl Sampson, came to rest in front of the vehicle and was evaluated by Randolph County EMS.
