Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Roy Clay Williams, 54, for murder on Tuesday February 27th, 2024, after responding to a report of gunshots and finding a woman dead at the residence on Clark Avenue in Franklinville. Williams was being held without bond at Randolph County Jail after being booked just before midnight and appeared in Randolph County District Court this morning. February 27th, 2024, was a difficult day, says the Sheriff’s Office. This morning, K9 Ziva and her handler were honored in an End of Watch ceremony with members of the Sheriff’s Office along with the agencies Honor Guard gathered to say goodbye to K9 Ziva before the pair were escorted to the veterinarian’s office. RANDLEMAN N.C. – A woman is facing multiple felonies including felony insurance fraud related to a vehicle fire in Randleman late last year. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on September 20th, 2023, deputies responded to Adams Farm Rd., in Randleman for a vehicle fire.  Evidence gathered at the scene and an investigation by the Randolph County Fire Marshal’s Office concluded that the fire was set intentionally.   The investigation led the Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Division to seek charges against the vehicle owner, identified in the press release as 38-year-old Jodean Marie Stillwell, for felony insurance fraud, felony burning personal property, and felony attempt to obtain property by false pretense. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, on the morning of February 16th, 2024, it was reported to Eastern Randolph High School’s School Resource Officer that a juvenile student was on campus with a firearm on their person. The School Resource Officer located the juvenile and searched the juvenile locating a firearm, which was secured without incident and was determined to be unloaded. According to a press release, the scam works like this: The scammer calls a family member using either a blocked caller ID or one that says something official like, “State of North Carolina,” and tells them that their loved one could be released from jail with an electronic ankle monitor (sometimes called electronic house arrest or EHA) for either a flat fee of several hundred dollars and/or a monthly 'monitoring' fee. SEAGROVE N.C. - A suspect is being held without bond at the Randolph County Jail facing a felony murder charge, according to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office. On January 23, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) responded to Osborn Mill Rd., Seagrove, in reference to a reported trespassing. Upon arrival, a male subject was located with obvious injuries; including gunshot wounds. The responding deputy began CPR and requested Randolph County EMS. ASHEBORO N.C. – A landlord is facing a felony charge of cruelty to animals after he shot a dog late last week, according to the Sheriff’s Office. On January 19th, 2024, the deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Whitt Hunt Rd., in Pleasant Garden, for a call about shots being fired. While enroute, Randolph County 9-1-1 advised that the caller reported that a dog had been shot by their landlord John David Whitt, said the Sheriff’s Office in a press release. Upon arrival, the Deputy observed the dog, which was still alive, lying in a driveway. Randolph County Animal Services responded to assist in the investigation.
