Vehicle Chase Ends After Car Gets Stuck, 2 Arrested

(Scott Pelkey / Acme News Archive) ASHEBORO N.C. - Two people were arrested last Friday after they had to bail out of their vehicle which had become disabled during a vehicle pursuit. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on March 4th, 2022, a deputy tried to pull over a vehicle near Howard Mill Rd and Bennett Rd. Police say the driver sped up and led police on a short vehicle chase that ended when the driver turned on to Waddell's Ferry Rd. and ended up on the dirt and gravel portion of the road near the Deep River when the vehicle became disabled. The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot but was apprehended. He was identified by police as Tommy Colon Hussey, who was wanted for multiple warrants and orders for arrest through multiple agencies...

Sheriff’s Office Charges 3 Individuals With Sex Offenses

ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office announced they have recently charged three individuals with sex offenses involving minors. Juan Jose Figueroa Jimenez Juan Jose Figueroa Jimenez was charged with felony crimes against nature and three counts of felony indecent liberties with a child after the Sheriff's Office received information about sexual offenses on December 15, 2021 that led them to start an investigation. On February 12, 2022, Figueroa-Jimenez was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail where he was given a $100,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for February 14, 2022, in Randolph County District Court. Man Arrested For Stealing Truck, Guns, & Catalytic Converter

ASHEBORO N.C. - The Sheriff’s Office announced they made an arrest of an individual accused of stealing a truck with several guns inside last month. On January 10, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 7000 block of NC HWY 49 South in Denton for a report of a vehicle theft. The victim told police that a truck containing several firearms had been stolen from the business. The Asheboro Police Department located the stolen truck on January 20, 2022. Man Arrested For Shooting In To House

ASHEBORO N.C. - A man who shot into a house from a stolen vehicle last month was recently arrested and charged with a felony. On January 20, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Bingham Loflin Rd. in Asheboro for a shooting into a residence. Deputies say they located a bullet hole on the west side of the home which faced Bingham Loflin Rd and that bullet had made it through the wall and into the home. Crime Scene Investigations collected evidence from the scene. Driver Who Almost Hitting Deputy Head On Arrested After Vehicle Chase

ASHEBORO N.C. - A driver was arrested after he almost hit a deputy head on while passing in a no passing zone then led police on a high speed chase last week. According to a press release, on February 5th 2022, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was traveling US 64 West when they were almost struck head on after a driver passed another vehicle in a no passing zone. The deputy flipped around and attempted pull over the driver who refused to stop and led police on a high speed vehicle chase. Convicted Felon Pulls Gun In Argument, Flees When 911 Called

ASHEBORO N.C. - A convicted felon is back in jail after brandishing a gun during an argument before fleeing the scene when 911 was called. On January 19, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a family fight on Kerr Drive, in Randleman. When deputies arrived they were told that Phillip Andrew Hess had come to the house and an argument ensued. During that argument police say that Hess was told to leave and refused before brandishing a firearm and verbally threatening the residents. The victim told police that when they called 911 Hess dropped the handgun and fled on foot. Responding deputies attempted to locate Hess but were unsuccessful. ASHEBORO N.C. - Asheboro Police Departments VICE/Narcotics unit conducted a search warrant on a home last Wednesday that landed 2 people in jail and located drugs as well as several stolen guns and a stolen vehicle. According to a police report from the Asheboro Police Department on Wednesday Jan 26th 2022 the VICE/Narcotics team along with the Special Enforcement Team (SET) and the Department’s SWAT team conducted a search warrant on a home at 640 Tucker St in Asheboro. Drug Activity Call Finds Suspect Who Had Just Ran From Police

ASHEBORO N.C. - A call about possible drug activity led police to locating a suspect who had fled on foot and escaped earlier in the day. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on January 21st, 2022, a deputy in the area of Hwy 64 E near Asheboro observed a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle stolen from Old Cox Rd reported stolen on December 29th, 2021.
