Criminal Apprehension Team Arrests Suspect from Pursuit

ASHEBORO N.C. - This week the Randolph County Sheriff's Office Criminal Apprehension Team located and arrested a suspect from a vehicle pursuit that occurred back in July. According to a press release, on July 13th, 2023, a Deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle with a fictitious tag and attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver fled leading to a vehicle pursuit. The Sherriff's Office says the driver continued at a high rate of speed and drove in the opposite lane of travel westbound on Lexington Rd. until the deputy lost sight of the vehicle. Narcotics Investigation Leads to Seizure of 8 lbs of Cocaine One Arrest

ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office says a recent narcotics investigation in Seagrove led to the seizure of eight pounds of cocaine and the arrest of one suspect. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, on September 11, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit concluded an investigation related to the distribution of Cocaine in the Seagrove area ofRandolph County. Suspect Wanted in Colorado Sex Crime Case Located and Arrested in Asheboro

ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect wanted in a sex crime case in Colorado was located and arrested in Asheboro last week. On August 24th, 2023, a detective with the Boulder Police Department in Boulder, Colorado, contacted the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) about locating Nehemias Lopez, who was wanted on a Felony Sexual Assault-Physically Helpless charge. Boulder Police Department had been actively looking for Lopez for several months and believed that Lopez had fled from Colorado to Asheboro, NC. ASHEBORO N.C. - A Randolph County Deputy chased a vehicle on foot that was trying to flee and arrested the driver who was likely feeling a bit of déjà vu. On August 21st, 2023, while performing routine patrol in the area of Little Gate Dr., in Asheboro, a deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office spotted a vehicle parked beside the railroad tracks. On August 20th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 85 north near mile marker 109, in Trinity. During that stop, officers say they located approximately forty-four pounds of cocaine in the "trunk area" of the vehicle. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, on August 7th, 2023, Mason Bryce Wooten was observed in surveillance footage striking a sprinkler head in his cell, setting off the system in his cell, at the Randolph County Jail. Sheriff’s Office Charges Man with Embezzling from Local Baseball Club

ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office has charged a local man with embezzling several thousand dollars from a local baseball club. On October 14th, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into suspected embezzlement after receiving a report from a local community baseball club. According to a press release, that investigation led to investigators charging 37-year-old Jesse Lee Martin from Denton, NC, with one count of Felony Embezzlement on August 10th, 2023. Nearly 30,000 Fentanyl Pills Seized in Search Warrant

TRINITY N.C. - A search warrant issued as a part of a joint investigation located nearly 30,000 Fentanyl pills at a home in Trinity and landed one person in jail. On August 9th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice Unit and Criminal Interdiction Team, Asheboro Police Department’s Vice Unit, and the Department of Homeland Security's Investigation division (HSI), executed a search warrant on a residence located at 6503 Bellawood Dr. in Trinity. According to a press release, that search located approximately 28,400 Fentanyl pills that weighed approximately 12.5 pounds, along with U.S. Currency.
