ASHEBORO N.C. - Last month the Randolph County Sheriff's Office investigated eight vehicle thefts, which makes up almost half of the vehicle thefts reported in 2023 and data is already showing a spike in theft related calls this month. The crime dashboard maintained on the Sheriff's Office website shows that so far this year 18 motor vehicle thefts have been or are being investigated, eight of those occurred in March. To avoid being the victim of a vehicle theft the Sheriff's Office recommends the following advice: Lock your doors every time you leave your vehicle and take your keys. ASHEBORO N.C. - A surveyor working in North Asheboro earlier this week was robbed at gunpoint according to police. According to a report by the Asheboro Police Department on March 20th, 2023, at 11:57pm, officers responded to Ravenwood Dr located in the Franklin Village Mobile Home Park off North Fayetteville St in North Asheboro after receiving a report of a robbery. Officers spoke with the victim who stated he was working as a surveyor in the area for USIC, an underground utility company. The worker told police he was approached by two white males who pulled out a gun and held him at gunpoint while they stole several personal items and a bookbag containing survey equipment. ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect who allegedly robbed a McDonalds in Asheboro didn't make it far before being arrested last weekend. According to a police report from the Asheboro Police Department, on Sunday, Febuary 19th, 2023, just after 9 pm, officers responded to the McDonalds at 773 W Dixie Dr for a report of a robbery in progress. An employee told officers that a black male wearing white shirt, black hoodie, and blue jeans had entered the business and stolen an unknown amount of cash and they believed the male was armed with a handgun. Officers located a suspect matching the description walking through the parking lot of Arby’s, whom they identified as Jamon Trevon Dixon. Dixon was arrested without incident. ASHEBORO N.C. - A traffic stop in Asheboro last week discovered evidence of a robbery and led to the arrest of a driver and a passenger. On January 18, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Doris Acres St. near Grantville Ln., in Asheboro. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, during a search of the vehicle, deputies located paraphernalia and US Currency along with an empty Domino’s Pizza deposit bag in the possession of one of the passengers, identified as Stephanie Nichole Langley. ASHEBORO N.C. - Detectives with the Asheboro Police Department are investigating after the Hardees in Asheboro was robbed at gunpoint in the middle of the day. On January 5th, 2023, just before 3pm, officers responded to the Hardee’s located at 457 East Dixie Drive in reference to a panic alarm. According to Asst Police Chief Robbie Brown with the Asheboro Police Department, while officers were enroute communications advised the business had been robbed. On October 9th, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to High Point St, in Randleman for a call about an armed robbery that had occurred on Interstate 73/74. When the police arrived, they located the victim who had obvious injuries. The victim told police that he was riding with a “friend” who he was allowing to drive his new vehicle. On August 14, 2022, at approximately 9:15 pm, an armed robbery occurred at the Dollar Generallocated at 4448 NC HWY 22 S., in Ramseur which is located in the Coleridge area. ASHEBORO N.C. - Three people were recently charged in connection with a violent home invasion and robbery in Randleman that took place earlier this year. According to the the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on February 13th, 2022, they responded to a reported home invasion, robbery and assault on WOW Rd., in Randleman. The victim told police two males entered the home, held her down, and sprayed her with pepper spray. Another victim, a male reported that woke up to a male suspect standing over him, before he was also assaulted. The suspects stole items from the home and fled the scene in a white truck.
