Department of Transportation will perform nightly closures of the southbound lanes of U.S. 421 next week in Randolph County, weather permitting. From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Sept. 25 to Sept. 28, crews from Ames Construction plan to close U.S. 421 South as part of ongoing interchange work. A signed detour to Shiloh Road will be in place during the southbound closure. Lane closures with no detour will be in place during the same timeframe for on Sept 29, and Oct 2-6. Monday & Tuesday Southbound US-421 will be closed with a detour on Monday (8/21/23) and Tuesday (8/22/23) nights from the hours of 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM to allow crews to set bridge girders for the construction of a new bridge at the Julian Airport Road interchange currently under construction. South Bound traffic will detour onto Shiloh Road and will follow Shiloh Road back to US 421 South Bound. Detours will be signed to assist motorists. A Pickup Truck belonging to the Julian Fire & Rescue was totaled after a driver struck the vehicle while at the scene of an accident on 421 (via Facebook) ASHEBORO N.C. - Julian Fire & Rescue's Chief was taken to the hospital after a driver struck the department's pickup truck that was on scene of a previous accident on US 421 last Friday. At 9:41 am, on Friday, December 23rd, 2022, emergency crews responded to the report of a crash that occurred on US 421 near NC 62 in Guilford County.
