According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, just after 4 a.m. on February 16th, 2024, deputies responded to Oakland Ave., Asheboro, for a reported hit-and-run involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The male victim was located unresponsive on the ground and the driver of the vehicle had fled the area. EMS responded and the victim was airlifted to an area hospital. RANDLEMAN N.C. - A man who was arrested on an outstanding warrant received an additional larceny charge after deputies say he stole a pair of cuffs from the patrol car he was being held in. On October 20th, 2023, a deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to Camellia Ln., in Randleman, for a report of an assault. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, the responding deputy met with the caller, Jeffrey Corum, and discovered he had an outstanding warrant for felony charges. Corum was escorted to the location of the assault in the patrol vehicle and asked to stay in the car while the deputy spoke to the parties involved. ASHEBORO N.C. - Charges are catching up with the driver of a stolen motorcycle with active warrants who fled from police late last month. In a press release the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says that on September 22nd, 2023, a deputy attempted to pull over a motorcycle on Turnpike Rd., in Archdale, but the driver failed to stop leading to a pursuit. That chase continued to the intersection of Meadowbrook Road and Kennedy Road where the Sheriff's Office says the driver slowed down and appeared to be turning right, before losing control and crashing into a ditch on Kennedy Road across from Meadowbrook Road. ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect allegedly driving a stolen vehicle tried to flee from police earlier this week but ended up crashing into a truck and being arrested. On August 29th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, who were tracking a vehicle reported stolen out of Lexington that had entered Randolph County. Randolph County deputies located the vehicle in the area of Meadowbrook Rd. and Kennedy Farm Rd. and attempted to pull over the driver. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man who fled from house arrest almost a year ago, led Police in Asheboro on a foot chase before being arrested last week.  Jordan Lamar Billings placed on EHA with Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on July 29th, 2021, for multiple charges. According to a press release on December 7th, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Electronic House Arrest (EHA) Officers received information that Billings monitoring device was not charged, leading them to discover that Billings had let the bracelet go dead, cut it off, and left it in a mailbox.  The Sheriff’s Office obtained an Order for Arrest for Billings for Violation of Pre-Trial Conditions of Release/EHA. ASHEBORO N.C. - A woman is facing additional charges after she pepper sprayed an officer while being arrested on an outstanding warrant. On April 14, 2022, Asheboro Police Department arrested Kristi Jo Moss Hodge on multiple outstanding warrants and orders for arrest. Officers located evidence during the arrest that linked Hodge to an April 12th vehicle theft in Ramseur that the Randolph County Sheriff's Office was investigating. According to an official with the Asheboro Police Department, shortly after Hodge was placed into handcuffs she was able to slip her hand out of one of the cuffs and retrieve a pepper spray container from her bra area. ASHEBORO N.C. - A convicted felon is back in jail after brandishing a gun during an argument before fleeing the scene when 911 was called. On January 19, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a family fight on Kerr Drive, in Randleman. When deputies arrived they were told that Phillip Andrew Hess had come to the house and an argument ensued. During that argument police say that Hess was told to leave and refused before brandishing a firearm and verbally threatening the residents. The victim told police that when they called 911 Hess dropped the handgun and fled on foot. Responding deputies attempted to locate Hess but were unsuccessful. HANG UP!They would just tell you that you owe a certain amount of money immediately or they will come and arrest you. ALSO, Please DO NOT send any form of money to these scammers! And do not volunteer any personal identifying information.For a warrant, the Sheriff’s Office will visit in person. ASHEBORO NC- Deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff's office arrested a couple in the parking lot of the Sherriff's office in Archdale Office last Thursday. According to information from the Sherriff's office, on April 15, 2021, deputies encountered a vehicle in the parking lot of the satellite Sheriff’s Office in Archdale. The female driver, who police identified as Stephanie Kay Shackleford, was yelling and appeared to be impaired. The passenger, whom police identified as Jason Wayne Moss, was found to have a warrant for Failure to Appear on charges of Obtaining Property by False Pretense and Misdemeanor Larceny and was placed under arrest.
