ASHEBORO N.C. —A domestic disturbance that started when a Winston-Salem man man rammed another car and stabbed another male ended with him in jail facing attempted murder charges.
The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says Wednesday night at approximately 9:00 pm, deputies were called to what started out as a vehicle accident where a car had struck a pedestrian on Loflin Hill Road in Trinity. That quickly changed to a domestic situation where one person was armed with a knife. Randolph County 911 advised for Fire and EMS to stay at a safe distance until deputies were able to ensure the scene was safe.
When deputies arrived they located two males and a female. One of the males had been stabbed and had severe lacerations. The other male was quickly identified as the suspect and placed under arrest.
The Sheriffs Office says their investigation determined that Steven David Legrand had assaulted the male and female after intentionally ramming the female’s vehicle with his car. The male victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, the female was treated at the scene. Legrand, who was also injured was treated and released back into police custody. He was transported to the Randolph County Jail where he was charged with Felony Attempted Murder, two counts Misdemeanor Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Misdemeanor Assault on a Female as a result of the investigation. No bond was given due to it being domestic in nature. He is set to appear in Randolph County District Court on January 3, 2022.
