ASHEBORO N.C. – Asheboro Police Officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit after trying to pull over a suspect they believe was connected to several vehicle break-ins at a local apartment complex last week.
According to information from the Asheboro Police Department, officers were notified of several 911 calls reporting at least five vehicles broken into at Summers Run Apartments.
Police say they were able to determine the suspect’s vehicle. That vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Greensboro, was spotted and sped away when officers attempted to pull it over on a traffic stop.
Reporting from Fox 8 WGHP says that during the chase, speeds reached in excess of 100 mph.
Officers chased the vehicle to Greensboro where the pursuit was terminated by a supervisor after a Greensboro Police Department commander advised they possibly had an ID on the suspect and declined to assist the Asheboro officers.
This is the second incident in which Asheboro Police have been involved in a vehicle chase into Guilford County after investigating vehicle break-ins at the local apartment complex.
On November 30th, 2022, at around 3 am, officers were investigating a vehicle break-in at the apartment complex and tried to pull over a suspect vehicle which failed to stop and led the officers on a pursuit all the way to Groomtown Rd in Guilford County.
