Wanted Suspect Who Dump Passenger Fleeing Police Arrested on 52 Warrants / Charges

ASHEBORO N.C. – The law finally caught up with a wanted suspect, who allegedly stole internet and telephone lines then fled from police in late June, after he was arrested and is in jail facing fifty-two warrants and charges from three counties.

Charles Anthony Cox was wanted in Randolph County in connection with an incident in late June of 2023, when the Sheriff’s Office responded to Zoo Parkway, in Asheboro for a suspicious vehicle in the area. In that incident, police alleged that Cox fled from deputies attempting to pull him over, before dumping his passenger, and later his vehicle, and escaping on foot.

CenturyLink responded and found that two hundred feet of telephone and internet cable had been cut down and stolen. Warrants were issued for Cox in connection with the theft as well as fleeing from police.

On July 1st, 2023, Charles Anthony Cox was arrested in Moore County and served outstanding warrants for fifty-two separate charges from Moore, Chatham, and Randolph Counties.

The warrants served to Cox from Randolph County included, felony larceny, felony possession stolen goods, felony flee to elude arrest with motor vehicle, misdemeanor injury to real property, and misdemeanor resisting public officer.

He was issued a $35,000 secured bond on the Randolph County charges and a court date has been set for July 28, 2023, in Randolph County District Court. ($240,000 total secured bond for all the outstanding processes.)
