Woman Charged with Insurance Fraud after Vehicle Fire in Randleman

RANDLEMAN N.C. – A woman is facing multiple felonies including felony insurance fraud related to a vehicle fire in Randleman late last year.

According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on September 20th, 2023, deputies responded to Adams Farm Rd., in Randleman for a vehicle fire. 

Evidence gathered at the scene and an investigation by the Randolph County Fire Marshal’s Office concluded that the fire was set intentionally.  

The investigation led the Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Division to seek charges against the vehicle owner, identified in the press release as 38-year-old Jodean Marie Stillwell, for felony insurance fraud, felony burning personal property, and felony attempt to obtain property by false pretense.

A magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for her arrest.  

On February 20th, 2024, Stillwell turned herself in at the Randolph County Detention Center where she was taken into custody and served her outstanding warrant. She was issued a $50,000 unsecured bond.
