(Map by Open Street Maps) ASHEBORO (ACME NEWS) - I-85 NB is shutdown between Liberty Dr. and Finch Farm Rd due to a multi-vehicle accident. Randolph County 911 Guil-Rand Fire and 3 EMS units to the crash involving two tractor trailers and three other vehicle. Davidson county crews have also been notified and are responding. Emergency crews have called for NC DOT to help shut the highway down. This is a live news story and will be updated as more information is made available.

A minor 3 car accident closed the northbound lanes of I 73-74 at the Pineview exit. All traffic was detoured off onto Pineview st and down to N Fayetteville st causing congestion on the road as far down as Vision Dr. Emergency crews cleared the scene moments ago but lingering traffic may still be causing delays.

A teenage driver has been charged after running into the side of a business last Friday. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - A teenage driver has been charged after running into the side of a business last Friday. According to an accident report by the Asheboro Police department, a vehicle was pulling into a parking space in front of The Business Center on N Fayetteville St in Asheboro. The report says the driver applied the gas pedal instead of the brake resulting in the vehicle jumping over the curb and striking the building. The driver, 18-year-old Johthan Camacho of Asheboro was cited for Unsafe Movement. No one was injured in the accident, but the damage to the business was estimated at $5,000 with an additional $3,000 worth of damage to the vehicle.

Detectives and CSI Investigate a body found behind an Asheboro home. (Scott P / Acme News) ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a backyard of an Asheboro home earlier this weekend. According to a statement by the Asheboro Police Department, on Sunday, July 4th, 2021 at 3:15 PM, officers with the Department’s Patrol Division were dispatched to 1214 Uwharrie Street for a call about an unknown medical situation. The officers found a white male laying on his back in the back yard of the residence. Officers inspected the body and couldn’t locate any signs of life. The vaccine clinic toured by the Governor is one of two clinics that the NC Zoo is hosting as of NCDHHS’ Bring Summer Back campaign. So far, more than 220 organizations have joined the Bring Back Summer campaign, which has reached an estimated 1.3 million North Carolinians.
