The first incident occurred on Thursday, October 19th, 2023, at approximately 7:59 p.m., when deputies responded to a reported armed robbery at the Mountain View Mart on Caraway Mountain Road in Sophia. Upon arrival, deputies learned that the suspect, driving a black pickup truck, had fled the scene and was last seen on Green Farm Road. ASHEBORO N.C. - A registered sex offender has been arrested and charged after the Sheriff's Office was notified he had been on school grounds. On October 12th, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office SRO was notified that ChristopherTimothy Ward, a registered sex offender, had been on a school campus. Ward, who currently resides in Thomasville, was convicted in 2010 for two counts of Indecent Liberties with a Minor. Under NC law certain registered sex offenders are prohibited from being in, at, or near certain places. ASHEBORO N.C. - Asheboro Police are investigating an armed robbery after a delivery driver was robbed at knife point late Sunday night. According to a report from the Asheboro Police Department, just after 10pm on October 15th, 2023, officers responded to Tucker St for a report of an armed robbery. The victim, a pizza delivery driver told officers that two black males had put a knife to his throat and robbed him of the pizzas he was delivering, his cell phone, and cash from his vehicle. Officials with the police department say the case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Division.

ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office's Highway Criminal Interdiction Team arrested a New York man last week after they say the located over $10,000 of stolen items in the vehicle. According to a press release, on October 6th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Highway Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop on I-85 in Archdale. During that stop deputies were able to search the vehicle and say they located marijuana, several fraudulent identity cards, and over $10,000 in fraudulently purchased power equipment. According to police reports on Oct 6th, 2023, at around 7 p.m., an officer responded to the Randolph Mall for a report of a fraud. An employee at a business inside the mall told officers that a male had come into the business and paid with a counterfeit $100 dollar bill. While at the mall, the officer was notified by security that another business in the mall was reporting receiving a counterfeit bill from a male.
