ASHEBORO N.C. – Police are seeking help from the public in identifying an armed and dangerous suspect believed to be responsible for a series of armed robberies at local gas stations.

The first incident occurred on Thursday, October 19th, 2023, at approximately 7:59 p.m., when deputies responded to a reported armed robbery at the Mountain View Mart on Caraway Mountain Road in Sophia. Upon arrival, deputies learned that the suspect, driving a black pickup truck, had fled the scene and was last seen on Green Farm Road.

Inside the business, deputies discovered three discharged ammunition cartridges on the floor. No injuries were reported.

Just over an hour after the first robbery, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office issued a social media alert seeking assistance in locating a black Super cab F-150 (12th Generation, years 2009-2014) with chrome-colored rims, door handles, side steps, and gas cap. The vehicle also features seven-spoke rims and chrome mirror accents.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned or white male wearing black Nike shoes with white soles and a white swoosh, black sweatpants, a black hoodie, and a black neck gaiter covering his face.

On Saturday, October 21st, 2023, at approximately 10:52 a.m., officers from the Randleman Police Department responded to another armed robbery at the Han-Dee Hugos located at 1020 High Point St. Officials believe the suspect in this robbery may be the same individual involved in the previous incident, driving the same truck.

The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous, and members of the public are urged not to approach the suspect and to call 911 immediately. Anyone with information about the location of the truck or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office at 911, Det.
