ASHEBORO N.C. —A domestic disturbance that started when a Winston-Salem man man rammed another car and stabbed another male ended with him in jail facing attempted murder charges. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says Wednesday night at approximately 9:00 pm, deputies were called to what started out as a vehicle accident where a car had struck a pedestrian on Loflin Hill Road in Trinity. That quickly changed to a domestic situation where one person was armed with a knife. ASHEBORO N.C. — A Randleman man was arrested on Drug trafficking charges earlier this week. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, on December 22nd, 2021, their Vice and Narcotics unit working with the Asheboro Police Department concluded an investigation after receiving information about an the distribution of Heroin and Fentanyl in Asheboro.That investigation led detectives to execute a search warrant at the Motel 6 in Asheboro at 827 Albemarle Rd. Police say that search found a "trafficking amount" of Fentanyl was located, along with Alprazolam (a generic form of Xannax), drug paraphernalia and US Currency. ASHEBORO N.C. — A victim woke up to find two burglars in their home before being assaulted and having their dog stolen. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on November 29th, 2021, their deputies responded to Joe Branson Road in Bennett after getting a call about a breaking and entering and assault. The victim told police they woke up to two subjects entering their bedroom. One of the suspects assaulting the victim before the suspects took a dog from the residence as they left. ASHEBORO N.C. —A man wanted by the state of New York couldn’t seem to remember his name when asked by police or the judge. Now he’s in jail facing awaiting extradition. On December 13, 2021, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deputy pulled over a vehicle on US Highway 64 East in Ramseur. The driver gave police a fake name before being identified as Daniel Darnell Hunter. Deputies called officers with Ramseur Police Department to assist and when they searched the car police say they found marijuana and US currency. ASHEBORO N.C. — A vehicle chase involving a suspect driving a stolen vehicle in Asheboro last Saturday ended after that suspect crashed, ran from police before being caught and was arrested. According to information from the Asheboro Police Department Officer Bym attempted to pull over a 2015 Red Kia Rio which had been reported stolen to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. Police say the vehicle failed to stop and attempted to flee starting a vehicle pursuit. That pursuit only went for 6.2 miles before ending after the vehicle crashed near a home in the 3500 block of NC Hwy 42. The suspect was able to flee on foot but was arrested after a short foot chase. Police identified the suspect as 29 year-old Hunter Nichols from Franklinville. ASHEBORO N.C. — Following a call about a burglary in progress police managed to arrest one suspect, are still looking for a second, and recovered almost a pound and a half of marijuana, leading to a puzzling question. According to the Asheboro Police Department on Dec 7th 2021, Officer Auman was dispatched to the Park Place II Apartments on South Church Street in reference to a burglary in progress. Staff relocated the 9-year-old grizzly from the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, Arizona, based on a recommendation by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Ronan is settling into his new habitat in the North America continent area of the Zoo. Since this past summer, the grizzly bear habitat has remained empty. That followed the death of Tommo, a beloved grizzly bear who lived at the Zoo for 26 years. ASHEBORO N.C. — Effective today at noon the NC Forestry Service and the Randolph County, NC – Effective at 12 p.m. Monday, December 13, the N.C. Forest Service and the Randolph County Fire Marshal have lifted the ban on all open burning for Randolph County. As of 12 p.m., burn permits are available in Randolph County. You can obtain a burn permit from any authorized permitting agent or online at www.ncforestservice.gov/burnpermit. All burn permits previously issued in Randolph County prior to the ban were cancelled. ASHEBORO N.C. - A convicted felon on probation was arrested after police say a search of his home found guns, ammo, and drugs. On December 7th, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was called to Raymond Gray Lane, in Archdale, to assist NC Probation and Parole in searching the home of Stan Millikan Davis, Jr., a convicted felon on probation for drug charges out of Guilford County.
