ASHEBORO NC - A pair of individuals were arrested after police say they stole a trailer and sold it on Facebook, all because the buyers friend was suspicious. According to the Sheriff's Office, on October 25th, 2021,they responded to Creeks Crossing Rd. after getting a call from a citizen who had become suspicious that a utility trailer he had purchased may be stolen. The buyer told officers that Brandon Edward Fields had messaged him earlier in the day saying that he had a trailer he had acquired as pay for work that he wanted to sell. The victim told police he met Fields and another subjects and bought the trailer. ASHEBORO NC – Two officers helped a stranded motorist push his car into a parking lot before they ended up arresting him. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on October 14, 2021, one of their deputies and an SBI agent stopped to help a driver whose car had broken down on McDowell Road near the Sherriff's Office. The two officers helped push the vehicle into the parking lot when they say they noticed the driver was under the influence. The driver, identified as Ricardo Palacios, had an outstanding Order for Arrest for Failure to Appear for Resisting a Public Officer and was placed under arrest. On October 21, 2021, the NC Department of Corrections put out an alert for for an escapee, Richard Alexander Mundy, left a work detail in Laurinburg, NC. ASHEBORO NC - Today we learned that Asheboro Police Departments VICE/Narcotics unit responded to a reported drug violation at the Asheboro Motel 6 just five days before a fatal overdose. John Chester Reed According to a police report the Vice/Narcotics unit responded to the Motel 6 in Asheboro on August 20th 2021 for a reported drug violation. Detectives made contact with several individuals staying in one of the rooms and were able to get consent to search the room. Police say that search located and seized marijuana and suspected heroin/fenchyl. Raymond Schofield Hyatt On October 16, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Burglary in Progress on Hawthorne Dr. in Asheboro. The deputies located the suspect still inside the residence. They ordered him to come out and upon leaving the house, the suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly arrested. ASHEBORO NC - The Sheriff's office arrested a man in connection with an assault call where an individual had to be taken to the hospital after being shot with a cross-bow. According to information released today by the the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to a call about an assault on BB Trail in Asheboro back on October 2nd, 2021. They found the victim with a wound to the abdomen. The Sheriff's office says that Christopher Troutman reportedly shot the victim with a cross bow and then had fled the scene on foot before they arrived. Deputies were unable to locate Troutman that night and the victim was transported by Randolph County EMS to an area hospital. ASHEBORO NC – We are just learning details about drug bust back in June that resulted in 1 person being arrested and almost 10 grams of meth being seized. John Chester Reed According to Asheboro Assistant Chief of Police Robbie Brown, the department's Vice/Narcotics units Detectives utilized an undercover officer to make purchases of suspected methamphetamine from a resident at 322 Brookside Drive in Asheboro on two separate occasions. The evidence obtained from those undercover buys resulted in police arresting 33 year old John Chester Reed for Felony Selling / Delivering of a Schedule II Drug. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office they received multiple calls during the first few weeks of August about vehicle break-ins in the Trinity, Thomasville and north-west Asheboro areas. They say their investigation led them to charge Franklin Lee Allen for 19 Counts of Felony Breaking or Entering into a Motor Vehicle, Felony Larceny of Firearm, Felony Possession of Stolen Firearm, 10 Counts of Misdemeanor Larceny, and 10 Counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Goods/Property. A couple at the Asheboro apartment each claimed the other had stabbed them. The police report says that the girlfriend had called 911and told police her boyfriend upset that she refused to have sex with him, had jumped on her on the couch and stabbed her in the leg before she wrestled the knife away from him. She stated that he had fled the apartment in a gold truck armed with the knife and that she wasn’t sure if she had stabbed him. ASHEBORO NC - A local man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies for kidnapping, child abuse and assault. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff's Office on September 30,th 2021, deputies responded to a report of Assault and Kidnapping that occurred on Pleasant Ridge Rd. in Ramseur. The Sheriff's Office says their investigation, into that incident led to the Deputy obtaining warrants on Travis Lane Parsons for Felony First Degree Kidnapping, Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, and Misdemeanor Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
