Man Arrested After Robbery of First Bank in Asheboro

ASHEBORO N.C. - A man was arrested yesterday afternoon after police say he robbed the First Bank in Asheboro. On November 14th, 2023, just before 4 p.m. officers responded to First Bank in Asheboro located at 335 S. Fayetteville St., for a report of an armed robbery. According to a press release by the Asheboro Police Department, a white male suspect passed a note demanding money. After obtaining an unknown amount of currency the suspect exited the business on foot, fleeing towards the Asheboro Summit Apartments located next door to the bank. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two people were arrested after an incident last month where a meetup for an online sale turned into a shootout, leaving one person injured. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on October 27th, 2023, deputies responded to Creekway Ridge, in Asheboro, for a report of a gunshot wound. SOPHIA N.C. - Today, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office announced they have filed charges against the father of a two-year-old who suffered an accidental gunshot wound to the leg after getting ahold of a firearm earlier this month. On October 13th 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accidental shooting on Beckerdite Rd. in Sophia. Arrested Man Charged with Larceny for Stealing Cuffs from Patrol Car, says RCSO

RANDLEMAN N.C. - A man who was arrested on an outstanding warrant received an additional larceny charge after deputies say he stole a pair of cuffs from the patrol car he was being held in. On October 20th, 2023, a deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to Camellia Ln., in Randleman, for a report of an assault. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, the responding deputy met with the caller, Jeffrey Corum, and discovered he had an outstanding warrant for felony charges. TRINITY N.C. - A driver is facing felony drug charges and misdemeanor DUI and gun charges after police say they found him and his passenger asleep at an intersection in a running vehicle. On October 20th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to the intersection of NC Hwy 62 and Surrett Dr., in Trinity, for a welfare check on a vehicle stopped at an intersection with the driver slumped over at the wheel. ASHEBORO N.C. - A registered sex offender has been arrested and charged after the Sheriff's Office was notified he had been on school grounds. On October 12th, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office SRO was notified that ChristopherTimothy Ward, a registered sex offender, had been on a school campus. Ward, who currently resides in Thomasville, was convicted in 2010 for two counts of Indecent Liberties with a Minor. Delivery Driver Robbed at Knifepoint in Asheboro

ASHEBORO N.C. - Asheboro Police are investigating an armed robbery after a delivery driver was robbed at knife point late Sunday night. According to a report from the Asheboro Police Department, just after 10pm on October 15th, 2023, officers responded to Tucker St for a report of an armed robbery. The victim, a pizza delivery driver told officers that two black males had put a knife to his throat and robbed him of the pizzas he was delivering, his cell phone, and cash from his vehicle. Sheriff’s Office Arrests NY Man After Locating Over $10,000 in Stolen Items

ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office's Highway Criminal Interdiction Team arrested a New York man last week after they say the located over $10,000 of stolen items in the vehicle. According to a press release, on October 6th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Highway Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop on I-85 in Archdale. During that stop deputies were able to search the vehicle and say they located marijuana, several fraudulent identity cards, and over $10,000 in fraudulently purchased power equipment. According to police reports on Oct 6th, 2023, at around 7 p.m., an officer responded to the Randolph Mall for a report of a fraud. An employee at a business inside the mall told officers that a male had come into the business and paid with a counterfeit $100 dollar bill. While at the mall, the officer was notified by security that another business in the mall was reporting receiving a counterfeit bill from a male.
