[UPDATED] One Shot, Car Stolen In Trinity, Police Issue BOLO

ASHEBORO N.C. - A man was shot and his car stolen this morning in Trinity, and now police are asking the public to be on the look out for a suspect vehicle. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office at around 9 a.m. this morning they responded to a call about an assault at the Dollar General on Hwy 62 in Trinity. A 911 caller had reported that the victim had come into the store asking for help stating he had been shot and his car stolen. Randolph County EMS transported the victim to an area hospital. Police located the victims vehicle abandoned on Sabine St in Trinity. The victim was able to provide a description of the suspect vehicle as a green in color Jeep Cherokee occupied by two suspects. The car manufacture said today they will invest 1.29 billion dollars in building the facility which once constructed will begin producing batteries for Toyota’s hybrid electric vehicles starting as soon as 2025. ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) - A suspect trying to flee from police was involved in a fiery head on crash that shut down the westbound lanes of the 64 Bypass this afternoon. In an email the Randolph County Sheriff's Office says that the Criminal Apprehension Team was conducting surveillance on a wanted subject and attempted to pull them over on the Hwy 64 Bypass in Asheboro. That's when police say the suspect refused to stop and a chase ensued. In the area of the ramp for the Zoo Connector, police say the suspect left the roadway and made a U-turn and began driving the wrong direction in the west bound lane. ASHEBORO N.C. - A woman has been charged in connection with a house fire back on Sunday in Asheboro. Thats according to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office who in a press release said that on November 28, 2021 they responded to the scene of a house fire at the request of the Fire Marshal Investigator. That investigation, a team effort between the Fire Marshal’s Office and the Criminal Investigations Detectives, determined that Laura Nicole Gunter had intentionally set fire to the home on Staleys Farm Rd., in Asheboro. Gunter was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail where the magistrate found probable cause for charge of Felony Fraudulently Burning Dwelling. Forest Service is warning of increased fire danger for most North Carolina and asking for public to postpone any outdoor burning, especially across the Mountains, Piedmont and Sandhills. The warning comes as the agency is responding to Surry County as over 250 acres have burned at Pilot Mountain. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release today that on the morning of Sunday November 21st, 2021, a deputy in the area of US 220 Bus S, near New Hope Church Rd saw a large amount of black smoke coming from Drum St. When that deputy arrived they reported a mobile home was on fire. ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) - Several businesses were evacuated just before Noon today after black smoke was spotted in the Kitchen of Coach's restaurant on Hwy 49 in Asheboro. Firefighters from Asheboro's Station 1 & 2 responded to the scene along with Asheboro PD and Randolph County EMS. According to officials on scene they believe that grease that had built up in or near the HVAC system began to smoke after the heat was turned on in the kitchen. The fire put its self out after the system was turned off. No one was injured and the all other businesses have re-opened. UPDATE: Acme News verified that Coach's has re-opened as of 1:20 P.M. ASHEBORO N.C. - In a bizzare call officers with the Asheboro Police Department responding to assist on a medical call ended up arresting a man who admitted to having a stolen car. Early this morning at just after 3 a.m. an officer with the Asheboro Police Department responded to a medical call at the Comfort Inn on E Dixie Dr. According to a police department the officer found Ricky Helms inside the business stating he didn't feel right. As they waited on EMS to arrive Mr Helms turned the conversation to the vehicle saying it was out of gas and a friend was going to get gas for it, before saying "go ahead and arrest me, that car is stolen". ASHEBORO N.C. - Two men from Raleigh were in jail this morning after being charged in connection with a stolen car and drugs. On the night of November 11th 2021, police responded to Matlab on Hwy 49 South. Officers with the departments S.E.T. team had located a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat that had been reported stolen out of Raleigh behind a warehouse at the business and had fled from police earlier in the day. While the Asheboro officers were on the scene the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office had simultaneously received a call about a suspicious persons on Revelle Trl which runs behind the plant.
