ASHEBORO NC – Recently the Randolph Hub highlighted how the state wide paramedic shortage, increased call volume, and trouble hiring and retaining staff is overwhelming Randolph County EMS. It’s an article that is worth reading. The headline read “Time for EMS to call 911?”, but perhaps the next headline should read “911: Don’t call us, we’re busy too.” The Randolph County 9-1-1 center is also overwhelmed as they take on an ever increasing number of calls. ASHEBORO NC - Today we learned that Asheboro Police Departments VICE/Narcotics unit responded to a reported drug violation at the Asheboro Motel 6 just five days before a fatal overdose. John Chester Reed According to a police report the Vice/Narcotics unit responded to the Motel 6 in Asheboro on August 20th 2021 for a reported drug violation. Detectives made contact with several individuals staying in one of the rooms and were able to get consent to search the room. Police say that search located and seized marijuana and suspected heroin/fenchyl. ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) – A head on collision sent several people to the hospital and now police are looking for a the driver of one of the vehicles who fled the scene on foot. At 5:39 PM on Friday October 15th 2021, Randolph County 9-1-1 received more than half a dozen calls about a vehicle crash between two vehicles on Old Liberty Rd near Central Falls Rd. Asheboro Police and Fire departments along with Randolph County EMS and later Ash-Rand EMS were dispatched. In total 4 Ambulances (3 from Randolph County EMS and 1 from Ash-Rand) responded to the accident. ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sherriff's Office arrested two burglary suspects red handed, one who was stealing from an home as family members hid in a bedroom and another who robbed the same home several times. Raymond Schofield Hyatt On October 16, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Burglary in Progress on Hawthorne Dr. in Asheboro. The deputies located the suspect still inside the residence. They ordered him to come out and upon leaving the house, the suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly arrested. ASHEBORO NC – An overdose call Saturday morning led to Liberty Police finding 3 people deceased, 2 more taken to an area and hospital, and a Greensboro man being charged in connection to the deaths. According to a press release from the Liberty Police Department, Liberty Police, Fire and Randolph County EMS were called to Johnson's Mobile Home Park on W Moffitt Ave on Saturday October 16, 2021, after receiving a call about 3 unresponsive persons. ASHEBORO NC - The Sheriff's office arrested a man in connection with an assault call where an individual had to be taken to the hospital after being shot with a cross-bow. According to information released today by the the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to a call about an assault on BB Trail in Asheboro back on October 2nd, 2021. They found the victim with a wound to the abdomen. The Sheriff's office says that Christopher Troutman reportedly shot the victim with a cross bow and then had fled the scene on foot before they arrived. Deputies were unable to locate Troutman that night and the victim was transported by Randolph County EMS to an area hospital. ASHEBORO NC – We are just learning details about drug bust back in June that resulted in 1 person being arrested and almost 10 grams of meth being seized. John Chester Reed According to Asheboro Assistant Chief of Police Robbie Brown, the department's Vice/Narcotics units Detectives utilized an undercover officer to make purchases of suspected methamphetamine from a resident at 322 Brookside Drive in Asheboro on two separate occasions. The evidence obtained from those undercover buys resulted in police arresting 33 year old John Chester Reed for Felony Selling / Delivering of a Schedule II Drug. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office they received multiple calls during the first few weeks of August about vehicle break-ins in the Trinity, Thomasville and north-west Asheboro areas. A couple at the Asheboro apartment each claimed the other had stabbed them. The police report says that the girlfriend had called 911and told police her boyfriend upset that she refused to have sex with him, had jumped on her on the couch and stabbed her in the leg before she wrestled the knife away from him. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff's Office on September 30,th 2021, deputies responded to a report of Assault and Kidnapping that occurred on Pleasant Ridge Rd. in Ramseur. The Sheriff's Office says their investigation, into that incident led to the Deputy obtaining warrants on Travis Lane Parsons for Felony First Degree Kidnapping, Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, and Misdemeanor Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
