ASHEBORO NC - A joint investigation between the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and the Asheboro Police Department has landed two people in jail on felony drug trafficking charges. In a press release, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says their Vice/Narcotics Unit and the Asheboro Police Departments Criminal Interdiction Team conducted a joint investigation into the distribution of Methamphetamine in the Asheboro area. On August 3rd that investigation led to a traffic stop of a car driven by Crystal Lilly Chiappini and Matthew Charles Chiappini, on I-73 in Randleman. Police say a search of the vehicle resulted in officers finding and seizing a trafficking amount of Methamphetamine. Randolph County 911 Guil-Rand Fire and 3 EMS units to the crash involving two tractor trailers and three other vehicle. Davidson county crews have also been notified and are responding. A minor 3 car accident closed the northbound lanes of I 73-74 at the Pineview exit. All traffic was detoured off onto Pineview st and down to N Fayetteville st causing congestion on the road as far down as Vision Dr. Emergency crews cleared the scene moments ago but lingering traffic may still be causing delays.

Randolph County 911 says on July 20th, 2021 at 10:23 PM they received the first call about the incident on US Hwy 421 at Exit NC 49 and dispatched fire and EMS units to the scene The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was also dispatched, and NC State Highway Patrol (NCSHP)was notified. A teenage driver has been charged after running into the side of a business last Friday. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - A teenage driver has been charged after running into the side of a business last Friday. According to an accident report by the Asheboro Police department, a vehicle was pulling into a parking space in front of The Business Center on N Fayetteville St in Asheboro. The report says the driver applied the gas pedal instead of the brake resulting in the vehicle jumping over the curb and striking the building. The driver, 18-year-old Johthan Camacho of Asheboro was cited for Unsafe Movement. No one was injured in the accident, but the damage to the business was estimated at $5,000 with an additional $3,000 worth of damage to the vehicle.

ASHEBORO NC – A local man is facing felony charges after crashing a car into his ex's car several times and fleeing the scene.The Randolph County Sheriff's Office says on July 11th, 2021, they were asked by Troopers with the North Carolina Highway Patrol to respond to the area of Old Farmer Road and Oakgrove Road, in Asheboro. Troopers were on the scene of an accident/hit-and-run that had occurred earlier during a domestic confrontation. Police say they discovered that the victim’s vehicle had been intentionally struck by a former romantic partner which caused the victim to crash. ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sheriff's office announced they have made two arrests in cases involving sex crimes against children. On May 19, 2021, deputies received a report of a rape. Investigators assigned to the case were able to find enough evidence for the magistrate to find probable cause for charges against Michael Ray Roberts for two counts of Felony Indecent Liberties with a Child. Roberts was arrested at his residence in Davidson County by the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office and was turned over to Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Detectives at the county line where he was transported the Randolph County jail on July 9, 2021. ASHEBORO NC - Police say they located 72 grams of meth after a vehicle chase and manhunt between Climax and Julian last month, and now two people are facing charges in connection to the incident. According to a statement by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on June 5, 2021, one of their deputies tried to stop a car on Ramseur Julian Rd., near Sandy Creek Church Rd.
