Asheboro Man Charged With Kidnapping / Sexually Abusing Child

ASHEBORO NC - An Asheboro man was has been charged with kidnapped and sexually abused a child. According to police reports Justine Wayne Queen was arrested on Thursday, March 18th. Queen has been charged with felony first-degree kidnapping and seven counts of felony statutory sex offense with a child less than 15. Queen is being held at the Randolph County Jail under a $1 million secured bond.

Armed Suspect Leads Police on High-Speed Chase

ASHEBORO N.C. - A High Point man is facing multiple felonies after hitting a patrol car during a high-speed chase. According to a press release by the Asheboro Police Department, on Monday, March 22nd, 2021, just before 6 PM officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to the area of 281 Tremont Drive, for a call about a domestic disturbance. Officers say when they arrived, they found Bradley Allen Byers armed with a handgun. Byers fled the scene in a blue Dodge pickup-truck. Additional responding officers were able to locate Byers nearby and conducted a traffic stop. After pulling over, police say Byers got out of the vehicle armed with a handgun and refused to follow commands. Byers then re-entered his vehicle and sped-off, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit. ...

Second Shooting Leaves One Dead

ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - A second and likely related shooting in Asheboro left one dead Monday night. According to a press release by the Asheboro Police Department, on Monday, March 22nd at 9:21 PM, officers responded to the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Dr and Loach St in reference to a reported gunshot victim. Officials at the police department say the responding officers found a male subject who had been shot on the ground. Paramedics later declared the victim deceased at the scene. Detectives are on scene and investigating at this time. In a statement, Chief Mark Lineberry said that so far they believe this is a retaliatory incident to the previous shooting that occurred at the C Store in Asheboro on Sunday night. Shooting Leaves One In Serious Condition

ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - Police are investigating what led to a shooting that left a man in serious condition Sunday Night. According to Chief Mark Lineberry with the Asheboro Police Department, officers responded to calls of gunshots in the area near 401 East Salisbury St at 7:18 PM. As more 911 calls came in responding officers learned that a subject had been shot. Arriving officers say the 22-year-old Kalil Jabri Cuthrell with two gunshot wounds. EMS arrived and transported Cuthrell to Randolph Hospital, where he was later airlifted to a trauma center. He is currently listed in serious but stable condition. ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - Randolph Hospital's Emergency Room was briefly placed on lockdown Sunday night after a large crowd gathered at the entrance where a victim was being treated following a shooting. According to police radio traffic, officers with the Asheboro Police Department at the Emergency Room requested backup to help with controlling a crowd of between 50-100 people growing angry and confrontational. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office on March 11th, 2021, deputies with the Sherriff's Offices Highway Criminal Interdiction Team pulled over a vehicle on I-85 in Trinity that was registered out of Texas. At some point during the stop, deputies searched the vehicle and say they discovered approximately 2,376.5 grams (5.2 pounds) of Cocaine and US Currency. Trinity Man Dies After Being Struck On Hwy 62

ASHEBORO NC - A Trinity man was struck and killed on Hwy 62 Monday. According to the NC Highway Patrol at 10:23 AM on Monday, March 15th, 2021, Troopers responded to the report of a crash on N.C. Highway 62 near Colonial Circle in Trinity. Tyler Lee Gray, 30, of Trinity NC, had parked his 2007 Honda pickup towing a utility trailer on the westbound shoulder of Hwy 62, partially in the roadway. Gray and was outside of his vehicle. Lawrence Edward Walker, 80, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., was traveling west in a 2019 Ford SUV. When Walker attempted to pass Gray he was forced to swerve back into the westbound lane due to an oncoming eastbound vehicle and collided with Gray. Gray died at the scene. Walker was not injured, and charges are pending.
