ASHEBORO N.C. - In a bizzare call officers with the Asheboro Police Department responding to assist on a medical call ended up arresting a man who admitted to having a stolen car. Early this morning at just after 3 a.m. an officer with the Asheboro Police Department responded to a medical call at the Comfort Inn on E Dixie Dr. According to a police department the officer found Ricky Helms inside the business stating he didn't feel right. As they waited on EMS to arrive Mr Helms turned the conversation to the vehicle saying it was out of gas and a friend was going to get gas for it, before saying "go ahead and arrest me, that car is stolen". ASHEBORO N.C. - Two men from Raleigh were in jail this morning after being charged in connection with a stolen car and drugs. On the night of November 11th 2021, police responded to Matlab on Hwy 49 South. Officers with the departments S.E.T. team had located a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat that had been reported stolen out of Raleigh behind a warehouse at the business and had fled from police earlier in the day. While the Asheboro officers were on the scene the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office had simultaneously received a call about a suspicious persons on Revelle Trl which runs behind the plant. ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office announced today that they have arrested two individuals following investigations into sex crimes against minors. On October 15, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received a tip about Kevin Lee Nunn that said he was receiving and distributing Child Sexual Abuse Material.Deputies along with agents from Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant was executed at Nunn’s home on November 5, 2021.The next day charges were sought for ten counts of Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. ASHEBORO NC – A man is in jail today after he led sheriff’s deputies on a high speed chase that ended in Montgomery County. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s office just after 11 PM on October 29th, 2021 they pulled over a driver just south of the Ulah Troy exit on I-73/74. Police say that as the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver sped off getting back onto I-73/74 heading south.A vehicle pursuit ensued, with speeds reading almost 100 mph according to law enforcement radio traffic. ASHEBORO NC - A pair of individuals were arrested after police say they stole a trailer and sold it on Facebook, all because the buyers friend was suspicious. According to the Sheriff's Office, on October 25th, 2021,they responded to Creeks Crossing Rd. after getting a call from a citizen who had become suspicious that a utility trailer he had purchased may be stolen. The buyer told officers that Brandon Edward Fields had messaged him earlier in the day saying that he had a trailer he had acquired as pay for work that he wanted to sell. The victim told police he met Fields and another subjects and bought the trailer. ASHEBORO NC – Two officers helped a stranded motorist push his car into a parking lot before they ended up arresting him. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on October 14, 2021, one of their deputies and an SBI agent stopped to help a driver whose car had broken down on McDowell Road near the Sherriff's Office. The two officers helped push the vehicle into the parking lot when they say they noticed the driver was under the influence. Raymond Schofield Hyatt On October 16, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Burglary in Progress on Hawthorne Dr. in Asheboro. The deputies located the suspect still inside the residence. They ordered him to come out and upon leaving the house, the suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly arrested. ASHEBORO NC - The Sheriff's office arrested a man in connection with an assault call where an individual had to be taken to the hospital after being shot with a cross-bow. According to information released today by the the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to a call about an assault on BB Trail in Asheboro back on October 2nd, 2021. They found the victim with a wound to the abdomen. The Sheriff's office says that Christopher Troutman reportedly shot the victim with a cross bow and then had fled the scene on foot before they arrived. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office they received multiple calls during the first few weeks of August about vehicle break-ins in the Trinity, Thomasville and north-west Asheboro areas. They say their investigation led them to charge Franklin Lee Allen for 19 Counts of Felony Breaking or Entering into a Motor Vehicle, Felony Larceny of Firearm, Felony Possession of Stolen Firearm, 10 Counts of Misdemeanor Larceny, and 10 Counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Goods/Property. ASHEBORO NC – According to a police report by the Asheboro Police Department on October 9th officers along with fire and EMS crews were called to 405 Farmer Rd in reference to a stabbing. A couple at the Asheboro apartment each claimed the other had stabbed them. The police report says that the girlfriend had called 911and told police her boyfriend upset that she refused to have sex with him, had jumped on her on the couch and stabbed her in the leg before she wrestled the knife away from him. She stated that he had fled the apartment in a gold truck armed with the knife and that she wasn’t sure if she had stabbed him.
