Two Suspects Facing Murder Charges

ASHEBORO NC – Three people are in jail this morning, two of them facing murder charges in connection with a body that was found in a wooded area in Asheboro earlier this month. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at approximately 10:27 PM, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Burns Street for a possible deceased person. When officers arrived they located a deceased male in a wooded area. Detectives were called to the scene and began an investigation. On Monday, September 27, 2021, the victim was positively identified as 64 years Randy Dean Hayden. Driver Airlifted After Wanted Teens Crash During Vehicle Chase

According to a press release by the High Point Police Department on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at approximately 4:54 PM, High Point officers came in contact with a delivery driver for Domino's Pizza who reported he had been robbed by five male suspects while he was making a delivery to a house at 633 Paramount St. According to police that house was recently vacated. Suspect Pulled Over Driving Stolen Forklift

According to a press release on September 12th, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Davis Country Rd., after getting a call that a suspect was actively stealing a forklift. Deputies arrived in the area and say they located the forklift traveling on Branson Davis Rd. toward Hwy 311 and were able to pull the driver over at the intersection of Branson Davis Rd. and Knoll Dr. Police identified the suspect as Robert Wayne Baxter who was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Jail. Sheriff’s Office Makes Arrest In Two Different Sex Crime Cases

ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office announced they made arrest in two cases involving sex crimes against children earlier this month. According to a press release by the Sheriff's Office, the Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received information that an individual by the name of Aaron Lee Barrett was possessing/distributing numerous child pornography files. Detectives initiated an investigation and on September 2, 2021, Mr. Barrett was taken into custody. Barrett was charged with ten counts of Felony Second Degree Exploitation of a Minor. Traffic Stops Finds Wanted Man, Drugs, and Gun

ASHEBORO NC - Police say the found drugs and a gun in the vehicle of a man with active warrants during a traffic stop near Asheboro last week. According to information from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on August 27th, 2021 deputies were called to assist the NC Highway Patrol. Troopers had pulled over a vehicle on I-73/74 near the Spero Rd. exit. Police say they identified the driver as Brandon Jamal Weaks. Police searched the vehicle and say the located marijuana, schedule II controlled substances, paraphernalia and a firearm. From 911 radio traffic we know the chase started in or near Asheboro and wound up on I-73/74 SB going for over 20 miles into Montgomery County, and reaching speeds of 120mph. Asheboro Man Charged In Overdose Death Of Pregnant Woman

ASHEBORO NC – A Grand Jury has indicted an Asheboro man in the 2019 overdose death of Amber Cox and her unborn child. Back on April 7th 2019 the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to an overdose at 1123 Ingram Dr. Asheboro NC. When they arrived they found Amber Leigh Cox unresponsive in what they said appeared to be a suspected heroin overdose. Police say the located evidence of recent drug use at the scene. Randolph County EMS arrived and attempted lifesaving procedures before pronouncing Cox and her unborn child deceased on the scene. Amber Cox was nine months pregnant at the time of her death. ASHEBORO NC – A Thomasville man is in jail facing multiple felonies after police say he shot into a home with several people inside. On August 12, 2021, at approximately 10:34 pm, the Randolph County Sheriff’s responded to a report of shots fired into a home on Old Mountain Rd. in Trinity. Just before noon on Wednesday, August 04th, 2021, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to the intersection of Brewer St and Spring St in Asheboro, after getting a call about an armed robbery.
