Just before 5 p.m. Randolph County 911, dispatched an EMS unit to the intersection of N Elm St and Brewer St, in Asheboro, for a standby for a possible gunshot wound. At around 6 p.m. on Aug 23rd, 2023, emergency crews were called to 23 S Fayetteville St, in Asheboro for a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle. Crews arrived to find a pedestrian lying in the crosswalk near the Magnolia 23 restaurant with witnesses in the roadway trying to assist him. Nearly 30,000 Fentanyl Pills Seized in Search Warrant

TRINITY N.C. - A search warrant issued as a part of a joint investigation located nearly 30,000 Fentanyl pills at a home in Trinity and landed one person in jail. On August 9th, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice Unit and Criminal Interdiction Team, Asheboro Police Department’s Vice Unit, and the Department of Homeland Security's Investigation division (HSI), executed a search warrant on a residence located at 6503 Bellawood Dr. in Trinity. According to a press release, that search located approximately 28,400 Fentanyl pills that weighed approximately 12.5 pounds, along with U.S. Currency. As a result, Robert Gurung was arrested and transported to Randolph County Jail where the magistrate found probable cause for the multiple felony drug and trafficking charges. ...

One Airlifted After Vehicle Strikes Pedestrian on E Dixie Dr

[Scott Pelkey | North State Journal] ASHEBORO N.C. - One person was airlifted with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle on E Dixie Dr last Friday. On Friday, July 28th, 2023, at around 7:30 pm, emergency crews were called to the scene of a vehicle collision where a pedestrian was struck on E Dixie Dr near Zaxby's. According to an accident report from the Asheboro Police Department, a 2005 Nissan SUV was traveling west on E Dixie Dr near Executive Way when a pedestrian stepped into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle. The 28-year-old male victim sustained serious injuries and was transported by the scene by Randolph County EMS to the helipad at Randolph Hospital where they were air-lifted by Baptist AirCare to a local trauma center. Two Arrested for Stealing from Store, Drive by Shooting in Front of Police

ASHEBORO N.C. - Two adult suspects who allegedly stole from a local convince store and later conducted a drive by shooting in front of two police officers, were arrested last week according to police reports. On Tuesday July 18th, 2023, at around 9:30 pm, police were notified of a larceny at the Quik Chek store on Sunset Ave in Asheboro. Before the police could respond, two officers working an off-duty detail at Coleridge Apartments called in shots fired after witnessing an individual hanging out of the window firing a pistol towards Kemp Blvd, according to a police report. Search Warrant at Asheboro Apartment finds Drugs, One Arrested

According to a police report from the department, on June 28th, 2023, the VICE/Narcotics along with members of the Special Enforcment Team executed a search warrant at Summer Run apartments located at 2159 N. Fayetteville St. That search led to police seizing 145 grams of cocaine, US Currency, and drug paraphernalia. ASHEBORO N.C. - Monday morning police responded to several break-ins of vehicles at a north Asheboro apartment complex including a stolen vehicle which led to a vehicle pursuit into Greensboro. If all that sounds familiar it's because the same thing happened late last year at and near the same apartment complex. ASHEBORO N.C. - Police are investigating a stabbing that took place earlier this afternoon at Bicentennial Park in Asheboro. Just after 3pm on June 15th, 2023, police, fire, and EMS were dispatched to Bicentennial Park in downtown Asheboro for a report of a stabbing. One victim was located near the fountain, bleeding, and was treated and then transported from the scene by EMS. Their condition is not known currently. ASHEBORO N.C. - A police DUI checkpoint last weekend led to several arrests and dozens of citations being written. In the early morning hours of June 10th, 2023, Asheboro Police, along with Archdale PD, Liberty PD, NC State Highway Patrol, and the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, conducted a DUI checkpoint on W Dixie Dr. According to Robbie Brown, Assistant Chief of Police with the Asheboro Police Department, the checkpoint led to a total of thirty-three citations being issued.
