From Friday, November 10, through Sunday, November 12, the baseball field at South Asheboro Middle School will once again be transformed into the Field of Honor with 500 U.S. flags posted in perfect rows and columns in tribute of heroes. According to police reports on Oct 6th, 2023, at around 7 p.m., an officer responded to the Randolph Mall for a report of a fraud. An employee at a business inside the mall told officers that a male had come into the business and paid with a counterfeit $100 dollar bill. While at the mall, the officer was notified by security that another business in the mall was reporting receiving a counterfeit bill from a male. (Photo provided by the Asheboro Police Department) ASHEBORO N.C. - A speed trailer used by the Asheboro Police Department was damaged in an accident earlier this month after an officer failed to properly secure it prior to towing. According to a vehicle accident report completed by the Asheboro Police Department, on September 11th, 2023, at around 3 p.m., an officer was towing the trailer on US-220 Bus when the trailer came unattached from the vehicle, impacted the roadway, and rolled for approximately fifty feet before coming to a rest on the side of the roadway. The report states the accident was caused by another officer, not the one driving the vehicle, who failed to properly secure the trailer prior to transit. ...

Work constructing the buildings and infrastructure is expected to be completed by fall of 2024. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Asheboro Fire & Rescue Department says no one was injured in a commercial structure fire in Asheboro yesterday morning. According to a press release, at 08:35 a.m. fire crews were dispatched to 2520 N Fayetteville St in Asheboro for a report of a comercial structure fire. The first unit arrived on scene just three minutes after being dispatched at 08:38 a.m. and reported finding a single-story commercial metal building with heavy smoke showing. Ten crews with a total of twenty-two fire personnel were able to get the fire under control by 09:01 a.m. Asheboro Police Department, Randolph County Emergency Services, and Duke Energy were all on scene providing assistance, and Westside Fire Department sent a fire crew to Station 1 to fill in until units ...
