State Highway Patrol (SHP) is preparing for the increased number of drivers expected across the state. With the vaccine and lifting of COVID-19 restrictions travel this year is expected to be up. ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office announced today that they have arrested two individuals following investigations into sex crimes against minors. On October 15, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) received a tip about Kevin Lee Nunn that said he was receiving and distributing Child Sexual Abuse Material.Deputies along with agents from Homeland Security Investigations executed a search warrant was executed at Nunn’s home on November 5, 2021.The next day charges were sought for ten counts of Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. According to information released by the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, on October 30th 2021, their deputies were called to a citizens assist at a home one Grantville Lane in Asheboro. A citizen had found what appeared to be a bone in the subflooring of their home while remodeling and were concerned it was human. Criminal Investigations and Crime Scene Investigations responded and collected the object in question which was sent to the SBI lab in Raleigh for analysis and further investigation. ASHEBORO NC - A pair of individuals were arrested after police say they stole a trailer and sold it on Facebook, all because the buyers friend was suspicious. According to the Sheriff's Office, on October 25th, 2021,they responded to Creeks Crossing Rd. after getting a call from a citizen who had become suspicious that a utility trailer he had purchased may be stolen. The buyer told officers that Brandon Edward Fields had messaged him earlier in the day saying that he had a trailer he had acquired as pay for work that he wanted to sell. The victim told police he met Fields and another subjects and bought the trailer. ASHEBORO NC – Two officers helped a stranded motorist push his car into a parking lot before they ended up arresting him. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on October 14, 2021, one of their deputies and an SBI agent stopped to help a driver whose car had broken down on McDowell Road near the Sherriff's Office. The two officers helped push the vehicle into the parking lot when they say they noticed the driver was under the influence. On October 21, 2021, the NC Department of Corrections put out an alert for for an escapee, Richard Alexander Mundy, left a work detail in Laurinburg, NC. ASHEBORO NC - The Sheriff's office arrested a man in connection with an assault call where an individual had to be taken to the hospital after being shot with a cross-bow. According to information released today by the the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to a call about an assault on BB Trail in Asheboro back on October 2nd, 2021. They found the victim with a wound to the abdomen. The Sheriff's office says that Christopher Troutman reportedly shot the victim with a cross bow and then had fled the scene on foot before they arrived. Deputies were unable to locate Troutman that night and the victim was transported by Randolph County EMS to an area hospital. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff's Office on September 30,th 2021, deputies responded to a report of Assault and Kidnapping that occurred on Pleasant Ridge Rd. in Ramseur. The Sheriff's Office says their investigation, into that incident led to the Deputy obtaining warrants on Travis Lane Parsons for Felony First Degree Kidnapping, Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, and Misdemeanor Assault with a Deadly Weapon. ASHEBORO NC – Three people are in jail this morning, two of them facing murder charges in connection with a body that was found in a wooded area in Asheboro earlier this month. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at approximately 10:27 PM, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Burns Street for a possible deceased person. When officers arrived they located a deceased male in a wooded area. Detectives were called to the scene and began an investigation. The department is following the CDC guidelines which recommends vaccine boosters for the following groups. Individuals 65 years and older or residents in long-term care settingsIndividuals aged 50-64 with certain underlying conditionsIndividuals aged 18-49 with certain underlying conditionsIndividuals aged 18-64 at high risk to COVID-19 exposure due to occupational or institutional setting The Pfizer single booster vaccine has to be given at least six months after the second dose.
