Duke Energy, in a statement on its outage tracker says that due to extremely cold temperatures driving unusually high energy demand, the power company has deployed temporary power outages across the system. These emergency outages, also known as "rolling blackouts" are necessary "to protect the energy grid against longer, more widespread outages by keeping demand under control to prevent systems from tripping offline. (happycreator/ Adobe Stock) RAMSEUR, N.C. – Officials with the town of Ramseur are addressing concerns about recent and on-going water quality issues, and the underlying problem extends well outside of the town. In early December, the Town of Ramseur suffered a water main break in a 12-inch line used fill the town tank located at the old water treatment plant. “There is an 8-inch line that runs from the tank that ties back into the 12-inch line at the old water plant to keep the town supplied with water when the plant is shut down.” says Jason Helton, supervisor at the water treatment plant in an email conversation with Randolph News Now. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Ramseur Police Department is asking for help from the public to gather information in an investigation after responding to a seriously injured person found in theroadway. On November 21st, 2022, at about 6:15 AM, officers responded to a seriously injured person found in the roadway on US Hwy 64 at the intersection on Liberty St. View Larger Map "After exhausting all leads to this point, we are asking anyone who was in the area and observed anything to contact us. You may contact Capt Jessup or Officer Smith at 336-824-8663," said the department in a press release. Information may also be submitted by calling Randolph County Crime Stoppers or submitting a tip through the P3 Tips app. A reward may be considered for information leading to an arrest.

ASHEBORO N.C. - A local woman is facing several charges after the Sheriff's Office says she pulled a gun on deputies attempting to perform a welfare check at the home last week. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on November 3rd, 2022, deputies responded to Low Bridge Rd., in Liberty, to conduct a welfare check of children following a domestic dispute. The Sheriff's Office says when deputies arrived a female, whom they identified as Melisa Ann Herriott, opened the front door of the residence, and simultaneously pointed a handgun directly at one of the deputies. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff's Office is asking for help identifying a suspect involved in a robbery of the Coleridge Dollar General earlier this week. On August 14, 2022, at approximately 9:15 pm, an armed robbery occurred at the Dollar Generallocated at 4448 NC HWY 22 S., in Ramseur which is located in the Coleridge area. Surveillance video shows a male enter the business at approximately 9:15 pm wearing black pants, tan in color boots, black jacket with white lettering near the left side, a black face mask, and blue in color hood. ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect has been charged with Felony Assault after police say the found a victim unconscious in a home in Ramseur. According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on May 23rd, 2022, deputies with the patrol division responded to Fox Grove Rd., in Ramseur, after getting a call about an assault. When emergency crews arrived they located the victim unconscious inside the residence. Fire and EMS provided medical treatment before transporting the victim to an area hospital. The Sheriff's Office says Criminal Investigation Detectives and CSI took over the investigation which led to warrants being issued for Felony Assault with Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Causing Serious Bodily Injury for the suspect, who officials identified as Patrick Andre Marley.
