ASHEBORO N.C. - A convicted felon on probation was arrested after police say a search of his home found guns, ammo, and drugs. On December 7th, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was called to Raymond Gray Lane, in Archdale, to assist NC Probation and Parole in searching the home of Stan Millikan Davis, Jr., a convicted felon on probation for drug charges out of Guilford County. During that search police say they found marijuana, firearms and ammunition. ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man on felony rape charges. According to a press release, on November 23rd, 2021, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sexual offense. An investigation was started by the Criminal Investigations Division which resulted in charges being sought against Shawn Lee Willard for Felony Second Degree Forcible Rape and Felony Second Degree Forcible Sex Offense. On December 9th, 2021, Willard was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail where he was issued a $30,000 total secured bond. ASHEBORO N.C. - A man is in jail without bond today after police say he tried to attack family members with a knife but was subdued by the victims. That's according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office who said in a press release that on December 9th, 2021, deputies responded to Featherstone Ct., in Trinity, in reference to an armed person. Deputies say when they arrived the victims reported the male had attacked them with a kitchen knife, but that they had been able to subdue him until police arrived. Deputies placed the male whom they identified as William Edward Kuntz, under arrest. EMS responded to evaluate and treat Kuntz and the victims for their injuries. Randolph News Now was notified just after 5 p.m. in an e-mail from the Randolph County Board of Elections which stated "By order of the North Carolina Supreme Court, filing for all offices for the 2022 primary is suspended. This includes the rescheduled municipal contests, and any separate filing period for those municipal contests in January." This comes from the battle over the recently drawn legislative and congressional districts which were approved by the Republican-led General Assembly earlier this year. ASHEBORO N.C. (ACME NEWS) - A suspect trying to flee from police was involved in a fiery head on crash that shut down the westbound lanes of the 64 Bypass this afternoon. In an email the Randolph County Sheriff's Office says that the Criminal Apprehension Team was conducting surveillance on a wanted subject and attempted to pull them over on the Hwy 64 Bypass in Asheboro. That's when police say the suspect refused to stop and a chase ensued. In the area of the ramp for the Zoo Connector, police say the suspect left the roadway and made a U-turn and began driving the wrong direction in the west bound lane. From emergency radio traffic we know that fire crews from multiple Randolph and Guilford county fire departments responded to a report of the smell of smoke in a classroom.
