ASHEBORO NC - A pair of individuals were arrested after police say they stole a trailer and sold it on Facebook, all because the buyers friend was suspicious. According to the Sheriff's Office, on October 25th, 2021,they responded to Creeks Crossing Rd. after getting a call from a citizen who had become suspicious that a utility trailer he had purchased may be stolen. The buyer told officers that Brandon Edward Fields had messaged him earlier in the day saying that he had a trailer he had acquired as pay for work that he wanted to sell. The victim told police he met Fields and another subjects and bought the trailer. ASHEBORO NC – Two officers helped a stranded motorist push his car into a parking lot before they ended up arresting him. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on October 14, 2021, one of their deputies and an SBI agent stopped to help a driver whose car had broken down on McDowell Road near the Sherriff's Office. The two officers helped push the vehicle into the parking lot when they say they noticed the driver was under the influence. The driver, identified as Ricardo Palacios, had an outstanding Order for Arrest for Failure to Appear for Resisting a Public Officer and was placed under arrest. On October 21, 2021, the NC Department of Corrections put out an alert for for an escapee, Richard Alexander Mundy, left a work detail in Laurinburg, NC. Raymond Schofield Hyatt On October 16, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Burglary in Progress on Hawthorne Dr. in Asheboro. The deputies located the suspect still inside the residence. They ordered him to come out and upon leaving the house, the suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly arrested. ASHEBORO NC - The Sheriff's office arrested a man in connection with an assault call where an individual had to be taken to the hospital after being shot with a cross-bow. According to information released today by the the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to a call about an assault on BB Trail in Asheboro back on October 2nd, 2021. They found the victim with a wound to the abdomen. The Sheriff's office says that Christopher Troutman reportedly shot the victim with a cross bow and then had fled the scene on foot before they arrived. Deputies were unable to locate Troutman that night and the victim was transported by Randolph County EMS to an area hospital. ASHEBORO NC - One-stop early voting for the November 2nd, 2021 municipal elections starts today and will continue through the end of October. Early voting began this morning and will continue until 7 P M as well as Friday the 15th from 8 AM to 5 PM.Starting Monday and lasting through Oct. 29, voting will run Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays, and 8 AM to 7 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.The last day of early voting on Saturday, Oct. 30 will run from 8 AM to 3 PM. According to the 2021 Municipal Voter Tool all Randolph County Elections are eligible for early voting.
