ASHEBORO N.C. - On July 6th a marked patrol vehicle from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office and a City of Asheboro utility vehicle were involved in a crash in Asheboro. On July 6th 2022, just before 11:30am, Asheboro Police and Fire Departments were called to the scene of a vehicle accident on N Fayetteville St near the Big Dipper restaurant. In that accident a marked patrol car from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office and a pickup truck belonging to the City of Asheboro had collided as the patrol car was making a left hand turn across traffic. According to an accident report from the Asheboro Police Department, the deputy driving the patrol car said she did not see the oncoming pickup truck when making the left hand turn. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man who is currently in jail charged with first degree murder related to child abuse was recently indicted by the Grand Jury in connection with a 2011 child abuse case. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, during the June session of Grand Jury, a true bill of indictment was issued for the arrest of Billy Ray Newsome, III, for felony child abuse-inflicting serious bodily injury. The Sheriff's office says the indictment stems from a 2011 child abuse case investigated by the Sheriff’s Office's Criminal Investigations Division where Newsome was charged in 2012 for assaulting a seven-month-old child; but, the case was dismissed in 2013 for lack of evidence. Michael Dwayne Wilkerson, age 34, was last seen by family on September 15th, 2011, in the area of Burney Road and New Hope Church Road in Asheboro.. Police say they located a wrecked pickup truck that same day which had Wilkerson's cell phone in it but there was no one in or around the totaled truck. The Sheriff's Office says the last call made on that cell phone wasphone had been made about 2:30 am. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, on March 17th, 2022, Criminal Investigations and Crime Scene investigators responded to Erik Dr, in Trinity for a fatal overdose That investigation led them to obtain a warrant for Ivey Tatum Elswick for Felony Death by Distribution on June 20, 2022. ASHEBORO N.C. - Three people were recently charged in connection with a violent home invasion and robbery in Randleman that took place earlier this year. According to the the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on February 13th, 2022, they responded to a reported home invasion, robbery and assault on WOW Rd., in Randleman. The victim told police two males entered the home, held her down, and sprayed her with pepper spray. Another victim, a male reported that woke up to a male suspect standing over him, before he was also assaulted. The suspects stole items from the home and fled the scene in a white truck. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two individuals, both wanted by police, were involved in a 20 mile long vehicle pursuit in Archdale before being arrested yesterday. A press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says that on May 25th, 2022, the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team pulled over a vehicle near Tom Hill Rd., in Archdale. That vehicle stopped briefly before fleeing the traffic stop and leading police on a 20-mile-long pursuit. The pursuit ended when officers were able to force the vehicle to stop near 10134 N. Main St. in Archdale. Pamela Grey Frisby, identified by police as the driver of the vehicle, was arrested at the scene. ASHEBORO N.C. - A suspect has been charged with Felony Assault after police say the found a victim unconscious in a home in Ramseur. According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on May 23rd, 2022, deputies with the patrol division responded to Fox Grove Rd., in Ramseur, after getting a call about an assault. When emergency crews arrived they located the victim unconscious inside the residence. Fire and EMS provided medical treatment before transporting the victim to an area hospital. ASHEBORO N.C. - A Randolph County man wanted for escaping house arrest was located in West Virginia this week where he was captured by a local bail bond company. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on April 28th, 2022, the Electronic House Arrest Officers received notification that Jerry Allen Harlow, Jr. had removed his monitoring device. Harlow was placed on electronic house arrest on September 10th, 2020, for multiple Felony Sex Offenses. ASHEBORO N.C. - Police say they arrested a driver found unconscious in a stolen vehicle sitting in traffic in Trinity last week. According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on May 21st, 2022, they responded to the intersection of Meadowbrook Dr. and NC-62 in Trinity, A 911 caller reported an unconscious driver in a vehicle blocking traffic. When a deputy arrived, they found a white SUV with an unconscious male in the driver seat. ASHEBORO N.C. - A local woman was arrested after police say she was possibly attempting to sell narcotics at a local high school. According to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on April 27th, 2022, School Resource Officer received information that a female was possibly attempting to sell narcotics in the parking lot of Wheatmore High School.
