Deputy Baker / Randolph County Sheriffs Office ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office announced this week that for the first time in the agency's history a female deputy has joined SERT-Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team. SERT is a life-saving unit of highly trained officers who deal with the most dangerous criminals and situations according to the Sheriff's Office. The unit is essentially a Special Weapons & Tactics (SWAT) team, which has the toughest performance standards, with members expected to be able to respond and operate in a variety of high-risk/high-stress situations such as high-risk search warrants and armed and barricaded subjects. ASHEBORO NC - On April 29th, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Highway Criminal Interdiction Team says they pulled over a vehicle on I-74 near Archdale. When officers searched the vehicle they say they located cocaine.Two individuals were arrested and transported to Randolph County Jail where the magistrate found probable cause for charges. Cierra Storm White was charged with Felony Possession of Cocaine and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana up to ½ oz. She received a $10,000 unsecured bond with a first appearance set for May 24, 2021, in Randolph District Court. Morgan Lacey Wilkinson was charged with Felony Possession of Cocaine. She received a $10,000 unsecured Bond with a first appearance set for May 24, 2021 in Randolph District Court.

On April 29th, 2021, at around 3:30 PM, first responders were called to a home on Miles Moffitt Rd. in Asheboro. Radio traffic from Randolph county 911 reported a three-year-old had been struck by a vehicle. Information later released by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office said the child was accidentally injured when an "inexperienced individual was moving a vehicle in the yard and the vehicle made contact with the child before eventually came to a stop after hitting the house causing structural damage." ASHEBORO NC - The N.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has finalized the autopsy report for a four-month-old killed in Randolph County back in November of 2019. On November 9th, 2019 the Guil-Rand Fire Department, Randolph County EMS, and Archdale officers responded to a home in Archdale where they found four-month-old Nevaeh Faith Johnson unresponsive on a mattress. Nevaeh was transported to High Point Regional and then was transferred to Brenner Children’s Hospital where she was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit. Nevaeh would later be pronounced dead on November 12th, 2019. An autopsy was conducted on Nov. 14th, 2019. ASHEBORO NC - A murder suspect is in custody leading police on a high-speed chase through Randolph County overnight. According to a press release by the Asheboro Police Department, on Sunday, March 25, 2021, at 2:09 AM, officers were dispatched to 340 Brookside Drive in Asheboro for a call about an unknown medical situation. When officers arrived they discovered 55-year-old Sherrie Shaw deceased in the residence. Investigators with Asheboro Police Dept began a homicide investigation.  Relatively quickly Investigators were able to determine a possible suspect and vehicle. ASHEBORO NC- Deputies with the Randolph County Sheriff's office arrested a couple in the parking lot of the Sherriff's office in Archdale Office last Thursday. According to information from the Sherriff's office, on April 15, 2021, deputies encountered a vehicle in the parking lot of the satellite Sheriff’s Office in Archdale. The female driver, who police identified as Stephanie Kay Shackleford, was yelling and appeared to be impaired. The passenger, whom police identified as Jason Wayne Moss, was found to have a warrant for Failure to Appear on charges of Obtaining Property by False Pretense and Misdemeanor Larceny and was placed under arrest. ASHEBORO NC - A man is facing charges after police say they found him passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle with a gun in his lap. According to information posted by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, on April 12, 2021, the deputies responded to assist troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in reference to a male driver who was passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in the area of US HWY 311 in Sophia.When officers arrived they say the found the man passed out behind the wheel with a firearm in his lap. Investigators with the Randolph County Sheriffs Office and Asheboro Police Department investigate a fatal shooting on Plummer St overnight. (Scott Pelkey / Acme News) ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - On Saturday, April 3, 2021, Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shooting on Plummer Street in Asheboro. The arriving officers found three subjects at the home, all with gunshot wounds. According to a statement by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, 27-year old Robert Lewis Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other subjects were transported to nearby trauma hospitals. One subject is currently in surgery and the other is in stable condition.
