ASHEBORO — An Asheboro man has been charged and arrested in connection with a fatal hit and run earlier this month on I-73 near Greensboro. Around 7:30 a.m. on April 17th, 2024, the State Highway Patrol responded to a crash on I-73 south, near West Steeple Chase Road in Guilford County. According to the Highway Patrol, 55-year-old Clyde Strickland, of Raeford, N.C. was walking south on I-73 when he was struck by a vehicle. On Monday, April 22nd, the Highway Patrol was notified by medical staff that Strickland had succumbed to injuries. Following the crash the NC Highway Patrol sent out a press release to local media outlets asking for information to identify the vehicle and/or driver. According to a press release from the Highway Patrol, at 9:25 p.m. on Thursday, February 22nd, 2024, Troopers responded to the report of a vehicle crash on US 64 at NC 49 in Ramseur. Investigators say 27-year-old Brandon Michael Schultheis was driving west on US 64 in a 2013 Dodge Charger police vehicle owned by the Town of Ramseur when he failed to stop at a traffic signal striking a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze. ASHEBORO N.C. - An elderly pedestrian walking along US 220 in Randleman last night when he was fatally struck by a vehicle in an accident. According to a press release from the NC State Highway Patrol, at 10:07 pm on Thursday, December 15th, 2022, troopers responded to the report of a crash that occurred on US 220 Business near New Salem Road in Randolph County. Glenn Chriscoe, 83, of Randleman, NC, was traveling as a pedestrian, north on US 220 Business. A driver was traveling north on US 220 Business in a 2016 Nissan Altima. That driver struck Chriscoe in the roadway. Chriscoe died on-scene, the driver was uninjured during the collision. ASHEBORO N.C. - A man who was already on house arrest for felony larceny charges was arrested last week after deputies say they stopped him on a stolen excavator which he was operating under the influence. On September 14, 2022, at approximately 3:00 am, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Deputy on US Hwy 220 S near Seagrove conducted a traffic stop on a Kubota excavator traveling north bound from the Seagrove area. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021, at around 1:42 PM, a 31-year-old female was kidnapped at gunpoint while sitting in a vehicle on Coleridge Rd in Asheboro.
