Sheriff’s Office Looking for Suspects in String of Vehicle Break-Ins on 311

ASHEBORO N.C. – Last week the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a string of dozens of vehicle break-ins on US Hwy 311, all during a few hours.

On September 13, 2022, at approximately 4:21 am, Randolph County 911 operators began receiving calls reporting burglaries of vehicles in the Sophia, Archdale, and Trinity areas. That morning deputies responded to thirty seperate addresses by 9 am and reported fifty vehicles had been entered.

According to a press release, The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and additional agencies in the area received multiple reports of vehicles that were broken into around US HWY 311 during the early morning hours of September 13th, 2022. Officials with the Sheriff’s Office say it is believed that the suspects drove through neighborhoods looking for unlocked vehicles. Once inside the vehicles, suspects took valuables, currency, and other items from the vehicles.

Deputies were able to recover multiple items belonging to victims that had been discarded in the area by the suspects and the items were returned to their owner(s).

The suspects are believed to be operating a bluish gray four door passenger car. Anyone who has information or surveillance footage regarding these incidents are asked to contact 911, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office at 336-318-6699 or Crime Stoppers at 336-672-7463.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind citizens to keep their vehicle doors locked and to report any suspicious individuals or vehicles in their area immediately by dialing 911.
