https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJj5LGrDqI8 ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS)- A water main break early Monday morning caused the tower on Church St to drain its more than 500,000 gallons in less than 30 mins.  City officials say they were made aware of the issue around 5:30 AM. The water main break caused a 5ft sinkhole to form at the base of the tower. That sinkhole formed directly under a cell tower utility building which caused it to fall into the hole. ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - Police are investigating a shooting that occured in earlier this afternoon in Asheboro. Police, CSI, and detectives are actively investigating the scene of a shooting at the intersection of S McCrary St and Dixon Ave. According to an official with the Asheboro Police Department two males had an argument on Dixon Avenue in Asheboro after approaching each other on the street.  Police say one of the males produced a gun and fired multiple shots at the other.  The victim fled the scene and officers say they do not believe he was hit. Officers have a juvenile suspect detained and they say they are continuing to gather information. Acme News ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - A vehicle chase which started in Asheboro ended in an arrest this evening. The Asheboro Police Department was not immediately available to comment. From 911 radio traffic we know the chase started in or near Asheboro and wound up on I-73/74 SB going for over 20 miles into Montgomery County, and reaching speeds of 120mph. Asheboro Police Department, Deputies with the Randolph & Montgomery County Sheriffs Office, and State Troopers with the NC Highway patrol were all involved. Randolph County 911 Guil-Rand Fire and 3 EMS units to the crash involving two tractor trailers and three other vehicle. Davidson county crews have also been notified and are responding. A minor 3 car accident closed the northbound lanes of I 73-74 at the Pineview exit. All traffic was detoured off onto Pineview st and down to N Fayetteville st causing congestion on the road as far down as Vision Dr. Emergency crews cleared the scene moments ago but lingering traffic may still be causing delays.

Detectives and CSI Investigate a body found behind an Asheboro home. According to a statement by the Asheboro Police Department, on Sunday, July 4th, 2021 at 3:15 PM, officers with the Department’s Patrol Division were dispatched to 1214 Uwharrie Street for a call about an unknown medical situation.
