Man Dies From Injuries From Wednesday Night Crash

ASHEBORO N.C. — A driver who was involved in a serious accident in Randolph County Wednesday night died from from his injuries this afternoon. The North Carolina Highway Patrol says at 8:31 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021, Troopers responded to a crash on WOW Road near Phillips Road. Forty-Eight year old Christopher Brian Michael from Pine Hall, N.C., was driving south on WOW Road in a when he crossed the center line, traveled off the roadway to the left and overturned. The Highway Patrol says Michael wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Suspect Who Gave Fake Name To Police & Judge Now Awaiting Extradition

ASHEBORO N.C. —A man wanted by the state of New York couldn’t seem to remember his name when asked by police or the judge. Now he’s in jail facing awaiting extradition. On December 13, 2021, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deputy pulled over a vehicle on US Highway 64 East in Ramseur. The driver gave police a fake name before being identified as Daniel Darnell Hunter. Deputies called officers with Ramseur Police Department to assist and when they searched the car police say they found marijuana and US currency. Asheboro Vehicle Chase Ends In Crash & Arrest

ASHEBORO N.C. — A vehicle chase involving a suspect driving a stolen vehicle in Asheboro last Saturday ended after that suspect crashed, ran from police before being caught and was arrested. According to information from the Asheboro Police Department Officer Bym attempted to pull over a 2015 Red Kia Rio which had been reported stolen to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. Police say the vehicle failed to stop and attempted to flee starting a vehicle pursuit. That pursuit only went for 6.2 miles before ending after the vehicle crashed near a home in the 3500 block of NC Hwy 42. Suspect Arrested In Asheboro Burglary In Progress

ASHEBORO N.C. — Following a call about a burglary in progress police managed to arrest one suspect, are still looking for a second, and recovered almost a pound and a half of marijuana, leading to a puzzling question. According to the Asheboro Police Department on Dec 7th 2021, Officer Auman was dispatched to the Park Place II Apartments on South Church Street in reference to a burglary in progress. Burn Ban Lifted For 67 Counties (Including Randolph) At Noon Today

ASHEBORO N.C. — Effective today at noon the NC Forestry Service and the Randolph County, NC – Effective at 12 p.m. Monday, December 13, the N.C. Forest Service and the Randolph County Fire Marshal have lifted the ban on all open burning for Randolph County. As of 12 p.m., burn permits are available in Randolph County. You can obtain a burn permit from any authorized permitting agent or online at www.ncforestservice.gov/burnpermit. All burn permits previously issued in Randolph County prior to the ban were cancelled. Felony Suspect On Probation For Drugs Found With Drugs And Guns

ASHEBORO N.C. - A convicted felon on probation was arrested after police say a search of his home found guns, ammo, and drugs. On December 7th, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was called to Raymond Gray Lane, in Archdale, to assist NC Probation and Parole in searching the home of Stan Millikan Davis, Jr., a convicted felon on probation for drug charges out of Guilford County. One Arrested On Rape & Sexual Assault Charges

ASHEBORO N.C. - The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man on felony rape charges. According to a press release, on November 23rd, 2021, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sexual offense. An investigation was started by the Criminal Investigations Division which resulted in charges being sought against Shawn Lee Willard for Felony Second Degree Forcible Rape and Felony Second Degree Forcible Sex Offense. On December 9th, 2021, Willard was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Jail where he was issued a $30,000 total secured bond. Trinity Man Tried To Attack Family With A Knife, Subdued Then Arrested

ASHEBORO N.C. - A man is in jail without bond today after police say he tried to attack family members with a knife but was subdued by the victims. That's according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office who said in a press release that on December 9th, 2021, deputies responded to Featherstone Ct., in Trinity, in reference to an armed person. Deputies say when they arrived the victims reported the male had attacked them with a kitchen knife, but that they had been able to subdue him until police arrived. Deputies placed the male whom they identified as William Edward Kuntz, under arrest. EMS responded to evaluate and treat Kuntz and the victims for their injuries.
