Detectives and CSI Investigate a body found behind an Asheboro home. (Scott P / Acme News) ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) - Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a backyard of an Asheboro home earlier this weekend. According to a statement by the Asheboro Police Department, on Sunday, July 4th, 2021 at 3:15 PM, officers with the Department’s Patrol Division were dispatched to 1214 Uwharrie Street for a call about an unknown medical situation. The officers found a white male laying on his back in the back yard of the residence. Officers inspected the body and couldn’t locate any signs of life. ASHEBORO NC - A mother and son are in jail today after police say a confrontation over stolen items led to a shooting in Thomasville. According to the Randolph County Sherriff's Office on June 26th, 2021, at around 10:40 pm, deputies responded to a report of an assault on Stonehenge Road in Thomasville. When they arrived they found a gunshot victim lying in the road on Fuller Mill Road. That victim, who has not been identified, was airlifted from the scene in critical condition. ASHEBORO NC - The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public's help in identifying two suspects in a daylight theft of a generator from a local business. On June 23, 2021, the Sheriff’s Office responded to James River Equipment on US HWY 64 E for a call about larceny. A white male had entered the store, picked up a Honda generator, then ran out of the business with it, before getting into a tan or gold hatchback / Chevrolet Equinox. ASHEBORO NC - The Sherriff's Office's Vice/Narcotics division executed two search warrants last week leading to two arrests. According to the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, on June 17, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics Unit, along with the Urban Criminal Interdiction Team, concluded an investigation related to the distribution of Heroin in the Sophia / Randleman area. That investigation led to deputies conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by Alfredo Antonio Palacios, Jr. near Pineview St. in Asheboro, as well as a search warrant being executed on Palacios residence located on Old Marlboro Rd. in Sophia. Jason Edward Brown ASHEBORO N.C. - A man was arrested last Wednesday after police say he stole a car and wallet, then used the victim's ID to identify himself.  According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on June 16, 2021, deputies responded to the 8100 block of US-64 W. in Trinity, NC, after receiving a call about a stolen car. The victim said the vehicle was stolen on June 11, 2021, between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm and that a wallet containing their ID and a spare key to the vehicle was also taken.  While investigating deputies were told that the High Point Police Department had located the stolen vehicle in their jurisdiction along with the suspect, Jason Edward Brown. According to the Randolph County Sherriff's Office on June 16, 2021, deputies responded to Old Cox Rd., Asheboro, after receiving a call about a burglary. The victim said someone had attempted to cut the catalytic converter from his vehicle and was able to describe several suspicious vehicles seen in the area. ASHEBORO NC - On the night of June 15th the Randolph County Sherriff's office arrested one man for allegedly stealing a car and another for trying to destroy evidence. According to a press release, on June 15, 2021, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Danny Bell Rd for a report of a stolen car. The victim identified Jesse Lee Thompson as the suspect. At around 11:46 pm, deputies located the stolen car at a house in the Poole Rd. area of Archdale.
