LIBERTY, NC (LIBERTY PD - PRESS RLEEASE) [ARCHIVED]– On January 20, 2021, members from the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement Division and Liberty Police Department raided Bonus Spins, located at 218 North Greensboro Street, Liberty, N.C. The location was suspected to be operating an illegal casino and gaming machines.  ALE’s Gaming Section and the Liberty Police Department started a joint investigation after local law enforcement received multiple complaints from community members about illegal gaming and gambling. According to Chief DJ Semrad with the Liberty Police Department, at approximately 2:40 pm on Thursday officers with Liberty PD responded to a 911 call for an alleged assault and domestic situation at 209 W Raleigh Ave. The officers noted injuries on the victim and the suspect, Kenneth Powell who was reportedly armed. Powell barricaded himself in a room of the house. Officers located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. The victim was airlifted to UNC Hospital, treated and eventually released. John Allen Harrington  ASHEBORO NC (RCSO) [ARCHIVED] - On January 10, 2020, while the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the Tobacco Road and Old Glenola Road area of Trinity, deputies located a male subject in the middle of the roadway, walking out in front of traffic. Upon investigation, the subject was identified as John Allen Harrington, who had been involved in a single car vehicle accident. His car was located in a wooded area nearby. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, drug paraphernalia and cocaine were located. Harrington was processed for the driving while impaired by the North Carolina Highway Patrol. ASHEBORO NC (RCSO) [ARCHIVED] - On January 5, 2021, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Detectives went to the residence of Julian Glenn Cross following a lead on several breaking and enterings and larcenies.  When the detectives arrived at the house they located several items in plain view they believed to be stolen.  Cross was arrested for an outstanding warrant for a larceny that occurred in September on Plott Hound Trail in Sophia, for Misdemeanor Larceny and Possession of Stolen Goods.    Julian Glenn Cross During the arrest, Cross was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia.  Cross was then transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was taken before the magistrate and charged with Felony Possess...

11 Goats Found Shot Dead Near Ramseur

RAMSEUR NC - Eleven goats were found shot on Parks Crossroads Church Rd. in the Ramseur area last Saturday. According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, On January 2, 2021, deputies responded to a call on Parks Crossroads Church Rd. in the Ramseur area. The owner of the property had found numerous goats including five baby goats and six adult goats, had been shot and killed. It is believed that the livestock was killed between the hours of 12:30PM and 5:30PM on 1/2/2021. ASHEBORO NC - Photos of a bizarre vehicle accident were shared across Facebook yesterday. The photos from 2 separate posts were shared hundreds of times show a vehicle that looks to be defying gravity standing almost vertically. The accident occurred Sunday, January 3rd just before 1:30 PM next to the KFC on Dixie Dr. According to an accident report by the Asheboro Police Department, 73-year-old Martha Gurgainus was traveling southbound on Cliff Rd next to the KFC, when she lost control of the vehicle and drove up onto a guidewire of a utility pole on E Dorsett Ave. The driver told police that she may have been going too fast and that she was attempting to re-adjust her seat when her foot hit the gas pedal, causing her vehicle to drive forward.
