ASHEBORO N.C. — A U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Liberty in North Carolina was arrested overnight at a local park in Asheboro, accused of engaging in sexual activity with a minor. Late on Wednesday March 20th, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a local park past curfew. According to a press release from the Department, officers found a male, later identified as 27-year-old Eric Timothy Fitch with a 13-year-old juvenile female in the vehicle along with evidence that Fitch had engaged in sexual activity with the female. ASHEBORO N.C. - Police are working to understand what led to a shooting last night in Asheboro that left a local man shot in the foot. On August 5th, 2022, at approximately 2am, patrol officers with the Asheboro Police Department were dispatched to a mobile home on Walnut Street, in reference to a gunshot wound. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department this morning, when officers arrived and entered the residence they located one white male victim, identified as Randal Clay Allred, with a gunshot wound to his right foot. Officers rendered aid to the victim, and he was transported by Randolph County EMS to a local medical facility. Police Investigating Shooting Earlier This Month That Left One Dead

ASHEBORO N.C. - A local man was killed in a shooting in Asheboro earlier this month and now police are asking for information from the public. According to information from Robbie Brown Asst Chief and of the Asheboro Police Department just before midnight on July 9th 2022, officers responded to a disorderly call for service at 219 Dunlap Street in Asheboro. When they arrived they located a Hispanic male laying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshots wounds. The victim, 35-year-old Sergio Espinosa Ramirez of Asheboro died from the wounds he received. Police are actively investigating the shooting and are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Kallam at 336-626-1300 ext 317. ASHEBORO NC - A multi-agency drug bust led to a Randleman home being searched ending with two individuals in federal custody. According to a press release by the Randolph County Sherriff's Office, deputies with the Vice and Narcotics Division assisted by the Winston Salem Police Department, Asheboro Police Department, Randleman Police Department, NC State Bureau of Investigation and US Drug Enforcement Administration concluded an investigation related to the distribution of Methamphetamine in the Randleman area.
