ASHEBORO N.C. — A vehicle chase involving a suspect driving a stolen vehicle in Asheboro last Saturday ended after that suspect crashed, ran from police before being caught and was arrested. According to information from the Asheboro Police Department Officer Bym attempted to pull over a 2015 Red Kia Rio which had been reported stolen to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. Police say the vehicle failed to stop and attempted to flee starting a vehicle pursuit. That pursuit only went for 6.2 miles before ending after the vehicle crashed near a home in the 3500 block of NC Hwy 42. The suspect was able to flee on foot but was arrested after a short foot chase. Police identified the suspect as 29 year-old Hunter Nichols from Franklinville. ASHEBORO N.C. — Following a call about a burglary in progress police managed to arrest one suspect, are still looking for a second, and recovered almost a pound and a half of marijuana, leading to a puzzling question. According to the Asheboro Police Department on Dec 7th 2021, Officer Auman was dispatched to the Park Place II Apartments on South Church Street in reference to a burglary in progress. A police report says that when he arrived he saw two males at the top of the stairway in front of apartment in question and when the suspects saw Officer Auman they ran down the stairs and began to flee towards the back of the building. Early this morning at just after 3 a.m. an officer with the Asheboro Police Department responded to a medical call at the Comfort Inn on E Dixie Dr. According to a police department the officer found Ricky Helms inside the business stating he didn't feel right. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two men from Raleigh were in jail this morning after being charged in connection with a stolen car and drugs. On the night of November 11th 2021, police responded to Matlab on Hwy 49 South. Officers with the departments S.E.T. team had located a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat that had been reported stolen out of Raleigh behind a warehouse at the business and had fled from police earlier in the day. ASHEBORO N.C. - A pedestrian was taken to the hospital late Saturday night after being struck by a driver off of Sunset Ave in Asheboro. According to an accident report by the Asheboro Police Department, the collision occurred on Saturday Nov 13th 2021 just after 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Sunset Ave and Dixon St. Police say the driver, Juan Carlos De of Asheboro, was making a turn off of Sunset Ave and on to Dixon Ave when he struck a 68 year old male crossing the road heading home to the apartments on Sunset Ave. Police charged the driver with failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian and for driving without a license. ASHEBORO NC - The Asheboro Police Department says they are investigating a death near the Motel 6 in Asheboro this morning and they don't suspect foul play. According to a press release by the department on Thursday, October 28th, 2021, just after 7 AM, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded to 901 Albemarle Road for a call about a male on the ground, unconscious and not breathing. Fire and EMS personnel were unable to resuscitate the victim and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. ASHEBORO NC - Today we learned that Asheboro Police Departments VICE/Narcotics unit responded to a reported drug violation at the Asheboro Motel 6 just five days before a fatal overdose. John Chester Reed According to a police report the Vice/Narcotics unit responded to the Motel 6 in Asheboro on August 20th 2021 for a reported drug violation. Detectives made contact with several individuals staying in one of the rooms and were able to get consent to search the room. Police say that search located and seized marijuana and suspected heroin/fenchyl. ASHEBORO NC (ACME NEWS) – A head on collision sent several people to the hospital and now police are looking for a the driver of one of the vehicles who fled the scene on foot. At 5:39 PM on Friday October 15th 2021, Randolph County 9-1-1 received more than half a dozen calls about a vehicle crash between two vehicles on Old Liberty Rd near Central Falls Rd. Asheboro Police and Fire departments along with Randolph County EMS and later Ash-Rand EMS were dispatched. John Chester Reed According to Asheboro Assistant Chief of Police Robbie Brown, the department's Vice/Narcotics units Detectives utilized an undercover officer to make purchases of suspected methamphetamine from a resident at 322 Brookside Drive in Asheboro on two separate occasions. The evidence obtained from those undercover buys resulted in police arresting 33 year old John Chester Reed for Felony Selling / Delivering of a Schedule II Drug. ASHEBORO NC – According to a police report by the Asheboro Police Department on October 9th officers along with fire and EMS crews were called to 405 Farmer Rd in reference to a stabbing. A couple at the Asheboro apartment each claimed the other had stabbed them. The police report says that the girlfriend had called 911and told police her boyfriend upset that she refused to have sex with him, had jumped on her on the couch and stabbed her in the leg before she wrestled the knife away from him. She stated that he had fled the apartment in a gold truck armed with the knife and that she wasn’t sure if she had stabbed him.
