On January 1st, 2024, Randolph County 911 received a 911-hangup call with screaming in the background. After not being able to get an answer on return calls deputies from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area. ASHEBORO N.C. - The AMBER Alert for a kidnapped 9-year-old from Asheboro has been canceled after the child was located unharmed and the suspect arrested. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department, at approximately 6:38 am this morning, officers responded to a home on Powhatan Avenue in Asheboro, for a report of a kidnapping. A grandmother reported to police that Darrell Milton Boyd Jr. had entered the residence and left with her 9-year-old granddaughter. An AMBER Alert was issued, and an arrest warrant was issued for Boyd. ASHEBORO N.C. - A man from Lexington is facing multiple charges after the Sheriff's Office says he held a woman against her will overnight in his vehicle. On April 21st, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Meadow Ct., in Trinity, for a report of an assualt. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, the victim reported that Roy Lee Evans, of Lexington, had held her against her will inside his vehicle throughout the night and assaulted her. Evans reportedly released her around 7:00 am and was told to leave. She was discovered by other people in the residence when they awoke and called 911. ASHEBORO N.C. - Two children are safe after Asheboro Police issued an Amber Alert for a suspected kidnapping earlier tonight. On October 30th, 2022, at approximately 3:26 PM, officers with the Asheboro Police Department responded a residence on Occoneechee Avenue, after a caller reported a kidnapping. According to a press release from Asheboro Police, officers responded and spoke to the complainant, who stated that her two year-old son, DeShawn Devonne Williams, and her four year-old daughter, Londyn Renee Williams, had been taken by their father and uncle. ASHEBORO N.C. - Police say they arrested a driver found unconscious in a stolen vehicle sitting in traffic in Trinity last week. According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on May 21st, 2022, they responded to the intersection of Meadowbrook Dr. and NC-62 in Trinity, A 911 caller reported an unconscious driver in a vehicle blocking traffic. When a deputy arrived, they found a white SUV with an unconscious male in the driver seat. The deputy attempted to wake the driver up by knocking on the window but the driver, later identified as Raymond Henry O'Neal, was unresponsive so the deputy opened the driver side front door to evaluate him. ASHEBORO N.C. — A convicted felon was arrested yesterday in Thomasville in connection with a November assault where the Sheriff’s Office says the he broke into a home, assaulted the victim, and tied them up. The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says in a press release that on November 17th 2021, their deputies were called to a home on Pisgah Covered Bridge Rd. in Asheboro after getting a call from a victim who said they had escaped being tied up at the home. ASHEBORO NC - A Florida man is in jail after kidnapping a woman at gunpoint and leading police in a high-speed chase vehicle chase Saturday afternoon. According to a press release from the Asheboro Police Department on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021, at around 1:42 PM, a 31-year-old female was kidnapped at gunpoint while sitting in a vehicle on Coleridge Rd in Asheboro. The suspect who police identified as 32-year-old Manuel Jesus Robles from Ocala, Florida, allegedly "forced the woman into a vehicle owned by the victim, which had been stolen earlier" according to a statement issued by the department. DENTON NC - The Amber Alert issued for a missing 14-year-old from Davidson County has been canceled after she was located and will be returning to North Carolina after a harrowing experience.  Savannah Childress, was reported missing on Feb. 11 from her home in southern Davidson County. An Amber Alert was issued on Feb 15th  Investigators had discovered that Savannah was using her Davidson County Schools issued computer to communicate with an individual using multiple online platforms. As the investigation progressed investigators discovered the same individual was also talking to several other juvenile females in Alamance County.
